So, yesterday stricken by a sudden bout of the Mad Hatter's Disease, Pica and Arthritis, I decided that I had the time (I really did not- I was just procrastinating on studying for the licensing exam) to polish the T4R!

After much introspection and reflection, I realized that the only polish and sealent that I did not have any sort of Oedipal issues with were the Klasse All-in-One polish and protectant (red bottle) and the Klasse High Gloss Sealent.

So, I began last evening, washing the T4R, drying it, and clay baring it (Ok I am lying-I did not clay bar it- but the freakin surface was smooth as a baby's butt I tell you-believe me). I then applied the Klasse All-in-One polish and protectant and how I loved it! In fact, I remember at one point blessing Klasse and his family and wishing them a healthy long life!

Then, came the time to apply the Klasse High Gloss Sealent. Ah- if only I had the slightest foreboding of what I was getting myself into. I applied the sealent and since it was 11 pm at this point, decided that I would buff it out this morning.

So, picture me this morning, getting up all excited at the thought of a beautiful sunny day with colorful butterflies...err.. sorry colorful falcons I mean falcons.. gazing down upon my shiny T4R! The dog decided that this would be interesting (animals do have a 6th sense about such things you know), decided to join me in the garage and took up a spectator seat on the steps leading into the garage.

I started rubbing the sealent off only to realize that it refused to come out! I rubbed and I rubbed (alright alright- don't get carried away with any dirty ideas here), but still to no avail. The dog, realizing that it was time for his morning walk, came and sat close to me and stuck me with a loathing eye that induced much guilt and sorrow in me.

I realized that things were not going my way and the sealent was not coming off when I looked down and saw that my previously bulging biceps (5 cm in circumference) had now shrunk to a paltry 3cm.

Having the fighting blood of my ancestors within me though, I stuck it out like a man (gazing upon colorful falcons in the sky), and rubbed some more, until I realized that stuck to my polishing towel was a 5th Gen T4R shaped Clear Coat (which I set aside gently for future use).

At this point, I realized that all was lost and threw in the towel (literally) and bade a hasty retreat amidst terrible jeering, cheering and name calling by the Hoy Ploy (AKA. Klasse High Gloss Sealent, my wife, our 5 -month old boy, and the dog).

I would like to clarify here that most of the name calling was done by the sealent and the dog. My wife is too much of an angel to stoop down to that level although I did at times feel daggers burning at the back of my skull as she gazed on. Being the simple fellow that I am though- I chose to misread these as Cupid's arrows of love. The baby of course, is too small to use profanity (bless his innocent heart), although I know its coming once he becomes a teenager.

My wife was seriously miffed at the amount of time I had wasted and hence banished me from the bedroom. I am writing this post from the automotive section of our local Walmart, where I slept last night (I was booted out of the comfortable, and warm Lingerie section by the Walmart people when they realized that my wife was their pharmacist and that I had irritated her)

The End- I hope!

A good laugh-- I had a similar experience this weekend with some wax. Let it sit for about an hour to go pick up my wifes rings at the jeweler before they closed. Came back to remove it and it was IMPOSSIBLE. A usual 10 minute task took nearly 2 hours!!

I did the same thing last week using the Klasse twins on my salsa red.The instruction on the sealant gloss says leave the wax on for at least half day but the key is the WOWO method( wipe on wipe off). im no pro but tried to research in the detailing forum and the result is awesome.4-5 coats of sealant gloss and the paint smoked the shine of the T4R from the dealer the first time i drove it off BN.If applied properly the detail forum calls the Klasse twins bulletproof.:gun6:

Im sure we have all been there at some point in time. A few months ago i was try to get rid of the rubber off my bumper at the track and i could not get it off to save my life! I was there for a good hour. Then here comes my friend and takes it off in less then ten minutes!

Don't say that!

Oh my, disaster abodes. One question, does not one usually applies the sealant first, then polish or wax?

JTraskell- Curses! Don't say that! :)
No, but I did some research on the detailing forum and the sealent does go on after the wax!

Interesting. My rig came with a "paint sealant" applied from SE Toyota. (Part of some sort of an appearance package already included) They then also gave me a bottle of Toyota leather conditioner/cleaner and a Toyota labeled "wax" which actually is polymer based product, to be applied whenever. From that, I just assumed, sealant over the clear coat, then wax or polymer stuff over the sealant. Which seems like over kill to me, but........

Dude, here is a tip that will make life easier.

When you go to wipe the sealer off, spray it with a little instant detailer, then wipe it with a micorfiber cloth. It will wipe right off with no problem and leave the paint really smooth.

Note once your micorfiber becomes soaked with instant detailer you will need a freash one to do a final wipe and dry, otherwise it just keeps on smearing.

I just put my 3rd coat of Klasse sealer on, but this time I used a Porter Cable DA polisher. It's is true, the more coats you apply the better it gets!

But next time try using instant detailer while you buff off the sealer, it makes life a lot easier, not to mention keep the wife happy :)

I was always told to put down the paint sealant first then use %100 carnauba wax. It's hard to seal paint when you have a layer of wax on. Nothing to bond to.

There seems to be some controversy around this issue- from looking online, some people seem to say that the sealent goes on first while others say its vice versa. The couple of people that I asked before I bought the Klasse products told me that the sealent goes on the last!

Look at the Klasse High Gloss Sealent official product description below which I am copy pasting

Product Description
From the Manufacturer

Well Klasse SEALER can go over Klasse AIO because AIO is an acrylic based polish, its not a carnauba. Hence you can get away with putting Klasse sealer over Klasse AIO.

From the research I have done, if you are using Klasse, you lay down Klasse AIO first so it preps the paint surface. Then the Klasse Sealer goes on over that. Once the sealer is on, if you want more shine, then you can layer carnauba wax over the sealer.

Keep in mind the sealer cannot bond properly to wax, it needs to bond to the paint, or another acrylic layer like Klasse AIO or a previous layer of Klasse sealer.

Otherwise if you put carnauba first, and sealer over it, the carnauba will break down under the sealer and there goes your protection, thereby defeating the purpose of putting sealer on to start with.

But when you put the sealer on first and the carnuba over it, the carnuba will break down first and your paint is still protected by the sealant underneath.

Or you can go nuts like some of us and just keep layering the Klasse sealer, and you will end up with a shine that holds up. When I put my first coat of Klasse sealer on I must admit I was not impressed, but once you get 3 or 4 layers deep the truck looks awesome.

I decided to go this route because here in hot ass Florida carnubas break down pretty quick.

^^^I agree 100%. the Klasse sealant is great but the detail spray is a must(much like Zaino unless in a dry climate where it dries quicker). either that or let it set or 24-48 hours.
