Stalling tactics some have cited on here include the dealer saying it was just the particular brand of gos, or that they got a hold of bad gas. People have switched brands, and usually makes little difference. In any case, they need to honor the problem in fix it. It shouldn't be on the consumer to search around for just the right brand of gas - even if that would help!

Like I said, I use the gas Toyota recommends (i.e., Top Tier gasoline: Chevron, Shell, QT, Conoco, etc.) 85% of the time, so it's hard for them to say "it's just that brand of gas."

I just set up an appt with my dealer today. Walked in with the TSB in hand, no questions asked, they ordered the parts and set up an appt for next Wednesday. Set me up with a free loaner car too, as they always do. :bigok:

Unfortunately my truck is going on its third day at the Stealer for the Smell TSB. They broke a stud on the exhaust manifold. I got a feeling I should have just lived with the smell. They gave me a brand new 07 Camry as a loner (really nice car).

The Camry is a nice vehicle but it's NO Limited 4Runner. I would not trade my 05 for the brand new Camry, sorry!

The dealer broke the stud on mine also during the TSB fix.

My loaner was a Chevy from enterprise that was so small it really did not qualify as a car.

Does anybody have a copy of the TSB in electronic form? I would like to be able to walk up and show them the document just in case they try to B.S. me about it, but I don't want to pay $10 to login to that Toyota site and get it.

My husband and I own an '05 SE V8 and we have only barely smelled the sulphur stench a couple of times. But, we drive on dirt roads a lot and almost never have the back window open due to the road dust.

Gee... when our 4Runner was in getting some Tornado damage repaired, we were given a Toyota Echo for a complementary loaner. What a piece of you-know-what! It was like driving a tin can -- and it was really awful on rural roads. The ultimate insult was that it did not have power windows and our two dogs were very upset. We never realized how much the 4Runner spoils us until we had to drive that Echo around for a couple of weeks!

Do a search for Sulfur TSB on the forum. Be aware there is a V6 and a V8 version and there are multiple years so you'll have to get the one that pertains to your specific year/engine.

Well, I got it back and the smell is still there. Maybe a little better. The good thing (I guess) is, I got new pipes, cats and O2 sensors.

Too bad - did you tell the dealer? Notice any other differences?

I guess the worst case scenario is you have all that new equipment - that's why I'm waiting untill it gets closer to 80k.
