OME 882 question

I've searched this and couldn't find what I was looking for.

I found a used set of 882's with shocks ready to bolt in for $300 on CL. I know these are HD rated for 150lb extra weight.

I'm running stock bumpers right now but have plans to add heavy bumper and winch some time.

If I was to buy this setup and do a diff drop could I get by with it with out destroying CVs until I get a bumper. Or, should I buy it and save my pennies for a bumper/winch and do it all at once?

I wouldn't be installing them for a little while anyway since I've gotta decide on a rear lift also.

First, it depends on the shocks. I bought a set of 883s from a forum member for $80. If this has a good set of shocks (and you need shocks) it's not a bad deal (new springs are about $160). If they are old stock shocks, pass on the deal.

Second, it depends on how much lift you need. I have 883s with an ARB and M8000 (about 170 lbs.) and I get a little over 2" lift. With the 882s you'll probably get 3" with that setup.

Third, if you buy them, don't install them until you get your bumper and winch. If nothing else, you will pay for 2 alignments - one now and another after you load it down (extra ~$75) and that will make anything you save on your 'great deal' a wash.

The shocks are listed as "nitro sport shocks." Thats the OME shocks from what I can tell.

He said he's only put 7k on the set up and switched to coil overs. May be a moot point since he hasn't replied to my email.
