ome 890 & 891

I'm sure there's been discussion on these. I know both say they give 3" lift. 890 are rated for regular weight where 891 HD. I Cary few things in my trunk. Probably around 50-100lb stupid stuff. I can tell that my stock coils are slightly starting to sag. I hear people saying they get more lift from 891 and less sag in long run. And that the ride ain't much different without the extra weight. What are your opinions ? I'd also like to tow a jetski on summer. And also go of roading. Also what are coil rubber spacers. I see on toytec 5mm , 10mm

Sounds like you need 890's. I'm running front armor and carry ~200 lbs tools/gear. I'm doing the 600 lb coils (standard) and 890's rear. My ride is perfect for me and I just got some air bags for when I load up for a road trip and overlimit towing. Standard (19 ft boat) towing squats it some, but if you weight the tounge right, it'll balance and ride well. The important thing is that it's plush at highway if it's your DD.

I've heard tales of regret from 891 purchasers that arent fully armored. (rear steel bumper)

Rubber spacers are for leveling or boosting some lift in the back. Not needed unless your truck is lopsided. IMO

I also run the 890's in the back. I have about 100lbs on average in the back of stuff (sub box, tools, hitch etc) I think the on road ride is perfect with my camburg 2.5" coilovers up front. Off road, when I start getting into some higher speed prerunning stuff, they are a bit soft and with the land cruiser tokico black shocks, they cant keep up and I end up getting alot of rear end bucking.

I also tow my flatbed trailer and class 16 desert race car (about 3500-4000lbs total) and as long as I get the weight centered, I have no problems towing and dont get alot of sag.

I run 891's, on rare occasion haul a dirt bike and dont give a shit about my ride quality so they work great for me! Just dont want the sag and wanted the strongest spring I could get.

I have 890s and no extra weight in the rear, and it rides like a truck. Not horrible, but I'm glad I didn't get the 891s, and I like a firm truck-like ride.

I have 891's
While carrying nothing at all they feel just fine to me, I don't notice really any harsh ride at all.
When I carried about 800# in the back for almost 8000 miles in 27 day trip it rode great.
So I would opt for the 891

I too run the 891's often without anything in the truck. They ride just fine for me and thats with a lot of highway miles.

In my experience the 890s like to sag once you start loading them up. Th truck sat level when I had no weight in the back, but after the drawers and a sub box were built the truck sat 1/2" lower than the front. Of course you can lower the front to keep it level, but I wanted to retain my full 3" lift in the front.

As far as ride quality, nothing you choose will give you a "good" ride, but imo it rode how the truck should.

Here's how the truck sat with the 890s and +120lbs

Exactly how my 4runner sits with a tool bag, gym bag and other stuff. U can just tell it sags just a little lol. 890 and 891 both give 3" lift correct ? Air bags for coils ? How does that work

I have 891s, with air bags for high loads (though I haven't needed them since going to the 891s). I have probably a 150lb rear bumper, plus somewhere around 200lbs of gear minimum I always carry (recovery gear, tool set, water jugs, subwoofer, etc.) and I think the ride is pretty harsh in the rear. Going to 5100 shocks helped a lot, but it still won't compress as much as I would like it to going over bumps at speed. My front end will compress into things but the back end wont and it jumps up so to speak. I plan to swap to Land Cruiser springs in the future.

The air bag runs in the center of the spring, just as an aid to hold the weight.

Yes both 3" lift coils

I tow a 19ft sea ray in the summer and a trailer with dirt bikes on occasion. My prior set up was 891's because of this and I usually run around with a full set of tools and cargo drawers in the back. A year after owning the 891's, they started sagging. In my personal opinion, I wasn't happy with the OME coils at all. Sagged way too early with the Toytec Ultimate Lift kit all the way round. I now run Toytec Super Flex Coils & LC shocks. Love the set up and wouldn't change a darn thing!
