OME BP-51 Suspension System -- Anyone yet?

In also looking at the BP-51 also for my 16 Pro and mid weigh spring in the back. My question is that, can I run 285 without and rubbing issues? I not sure if this is correct. My understanding is that 16 Pro is slightly different on the clearance with the front wheel wells. Sorry if this has been asked.

BP-51 Obsevations
Shocks are stock length and doesn't offer the benefits of extended travel that IFS need. FOX , King and ICON offer extended travel.
Springs are short and don't offer much preload ability. Springs need to be compressed off vehicle preload them, the others can be preloaded on the vehicle.
Others have damping control on reservoirs, BP -51 Nunes a wrench to get between coils to adjust.. if you can. Most likely you will have to jack up the car to open the coils to get to the adjusters.

Due to Stock length the Stock UCA can be maintained.
This is OMEs first try at a remote reservoir Coilover shock. They are now catching up with IFS technology.
Price is not that much different from Extended travel FOX, King ICON, but you will need the additional cost of aftermarket UCAs to use extended travel. If u already have UCA then it's a no brainer to get extended travel shocks as the ride is a lot better. IFS NEEDS DROOP. you don't need your shocks banging against the internal droop bumpstop when you hit a bump.
Choose wisely... just my 3 cents!!

Fed ex came this morning. It took less than 24 hrs for delivery, granted I do live 30 miles away.
Notice the free gift from Toytec.

Is it Tuesday yet?

This is super exciting stuff man! I just ordered the same BP-51 kit from David this morning at Toytec. I'm excited to see the progress of your build - what tire/wheel setup are you going to be going with?

I just dropped the 4Runner off this evening.
I would really like to get ko2 in 34x10.5r17
Not sure how much chopping and cutting is required or if it is too much trouble.

My second choice would be 255/80r17 probably km2 since no one really makes that size.
I like em taller and skinnier
Third choice, I guess would be 285/70r17 ko2.
I am leaning towards the trd wheels, I know everyone and their mother has em, but I like the look.

Anyone with the OME BP51 having excessive noise coming from the front suspension? I'm getting a loud clunking at slow speed over rough or uneven roads. ARB told me it was due to the shocks not being warmed up but it's still there even after a long drive. Thanks.

I have been trying to hunt down this noise for the past 2 days to no avail. I thought it was possibly a bad ball joint/sway bar issue/loose bolt but I checked everything I could think of and still get the clunk at slower speeds. Im getting the noise over even the slightest bump. Are you hearing the noise on the compression, rebound or both?

I hear it on local roads. Even small cracks set it off. I try cranking up the radio but then I can still feel it thudding in the floor where my foot is.

I've read on FJ forums that it is a common problem with a solution. Just have to see which one fixes it.

It may be worthwhile to remove the front skid plate and check the front swaybar on the driver's side.

There's a support bracket (covered by the skid plate) that my swaybar was in contact with after Scott@Hightech installed my bp-51s. Installing some spacers and longer bolts remedied the issue.

For what it's worth I've had zero coilover/remote res. related clunking since my install about a thousand miles ago.

I'd be interested in reading a reputable source reference / technical documentation regarding remote res. "warm up" or clunking if anyone here can cite one.

Had a bad CV causing my "clunk" when turning at slower speeds (29K on the ODO), not a constant clunk like yours over bumps and dips. I also noticed that my sway bar bushings were bone dry, may be unrelated but notable all the same.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the input. I dropped the rad bracket with spacers to clear the sway bar when I first installed the BP-51s. That noise was more of a creak than the thud I am hearing now. I didn't hear the thud until I had about 6K on the BP-51s. I am going to remove the sway bay in a few days to rule out the any sway related issues and if its still there I think I have it narrowed down to the lower control arm or the heim on the bottom of the shock. Being deaf in one ear definitely makes tracking down noises one of my least favorite activities.

although a clunk seems to be something different. have you guys heard the radflo clunk? very common on titan radflo shocks....wonder if its the same thing. I think the word on the street was Radflo was using a metal internal bump stop instead of what most companies use? idk at this point though (obviously lol)

Is this fact or hear say?

What you are hearing is the bypass piston "clicking". What happens is as the shock goes thru it's stroke the bypass piston is quickly pushed open, then is shuts. The bypass piston (s) all have a sping behind them, therefore what you hear is the piston (s) ,"clicking" shut as the shoke either compress's or rebounds. Some are louder than others. The more you close (turn in) the adjustment screw (s), the less the piston and spring can travel. Meaning, less noise.

4th Gen BP-51 installed

Just added the BP-51 suspension to my 4th Gen. Been running ICON Stage 1 setup for a few years, but wanted to try this new BP-51 setup. It's awesome.

Rear

Front

Skimmed through, anybody take travel measurements on the rear shocks?

Got pictures that work?

Here's mine. I have the clunk issue when going over bumps like some here. It seems only to occur on the front passenger side. Will try some of the ideas suggested here to fix it.
