OME lift owners...light coils or superflex?

Hey everyone, finally ordering an OME lift today as my christmas present but I had a couple quick questions for those running this lift on their 5th gens. I spent about an hour using the google machine, but didn't really get any answers. First, what rear spring/shock combination are you using? My intentions for this ride are light to medium offroading/camping with a couple hundred pounds of dogs + gear on occasion. I was leaning toward the ome light springs(up to 450 lbs?) to keep the kit all OME components. After reading some reviews I'm wondering if Toytec super flex might be a better option. Any difference in quality between the OME/Superflex springs? What are your ride quality impressions? Finally, I'm currently running 285 duratracs with some rubbing at full lock. Anyone with similar tires still have rubbing after the lift?

It's hard to go wrong with either. I had OME up front and Sflexes in the rear. Just don't go for the slfex HDs unless you have a lot of weight in the back. My rear end was way high and I had to switch out to the regular springs. I should add, that was my 4th gen. Can't comment on what the HD springs would do in a 5th.
 
You may consider using the ome springs on the bilstein 5100 shocks.
Just from my reading of the forum, most who use the ome shocks comment on how firm the ride is. I have ome 884 springs on bilsteins and think the ride is fantastic. If you want to keep a close to factory rake, I would go 884 and superflex. If you want to reduce the rake somewhat, I would go 884 and sway-a-way rear springs.
 
i run OME heavy's with 5100s and am pleased. the ride is firm but not harsh

I have OME lights plus OME shocks and my wife even feels like it's a better ride than factory. Seems like you're splitting hairs to me. Order whatever you can get for cheaper. You'll be happy with either.

I have the 884 fronts and the 895e in the rear with the OME shocks and really like it. I have run a few trails with 350+lbs of gear and they soaked up everything up I threw at them even when I was going a bit faster than I should have been. With everything loaded towards the back the rear springs still had a bit of rake to them something to keep in mind so you are not dragging your spare down the trail.
I have run 5100's & OME on my Taco, I prefer the 5100's around town but carrying gear on trails the OME seems way better. The extra damping really shines during the compression cycle especially on hard hits. On the same trails with the same amount of gear on both setups I found that I could go faster withe OME and not feel like I was going to bounce off the trail. Either way You can't go wrong with either. From my personal experiences I would say if you go bombing down a lot of trails with a sizable load go OME if not Bilstein 5100's are the way to go. Hope this helps.

When I first installed them I didn't have any weight, was totally stock. I added a 4x4labs bumper shortly afterwards, which is only 75lbs heavier than stock. Couldn't tell a difference. I like them a lot. I have the more firm KDSS swaybars too
 
Follow OMEs recommendations on the springs. That said I have SFlex in the rear.

Thanks for the input. I know at least one person mentioned tires still rubbing after the lift. Is that usually the case? I've already done the fender liner mod
 
I forget the numbers but I have the nitrocharger struts and heavy coils in the front (for a winch and bumper) and the medium coils in the rear. Don't forget to get the shock guards.

The ride is much more firm. I love the stance and I love the ride. Cornering is great and no more nose dive! OME makes a quality product - and relatively cheap!
 
I have about 8k on my lift right now with the heavy coils in the front and medium in the rear. I agree, the ride is a little firmer, but highway driving is amazing (just drove to phx and back from denver) and handling is amazing.
 
Curious, how much lift is everyone actually getting in the rear? I am only really looking to get 2" of lift not 3". I love OMEs and would prefer to get them over SAWs.
 
Mediums AFT and light springs FWD, OME shocks on all four corners. Ride is very firm but not harsh, I have a 200ish pound security box, rifle and some other items I haul daily and it's the perfect combo for my needs. I wheel mine and couldn't be happier, performs as advertised...
