On board air on the cheap

just those ones i posted in the thread

Im on my phone or i'd link you. Any 4 trumpet train horn should be sufficient, just look for some with reviews.

found it, that combo is sweet. i totally should have gotten something like that instead

Where's the fun in a plug n play kit?

fair enough, i learned a ton doing this myself that i wouldnt have been able to with the kit. i just need to get some barb fittings. Im going to try and do the compressor mounting tomorrow, electrical the next day and "air wiring" the next day. Also my compressor is better than that kit, so viair can suck it :heh:

Compressor fits like a glove but I need shorter bolts. This thing is LOUD. But the vibration isn't too bad

Do you have something to isolate the compressor to keep down on vibrations? I think I would have a rubber spacer on the bolts to make it not as loud

Got my shorter bolts in, all torqued down with lock washers. NEEDED to use an impact to torque them, otherwise the shanks were spinning and you couldnt get a wrench on the bolt head. thats why they are the way they are too since you couldn't fit the nut on top. Still may trim them a bit.

may move the maf ground wire

also wired up the switch to a blank fuse spot. Haven't done the relay yet, will do that tomorrow. I have a + wire sitting in the engine bay (taped off)

Looks great! I was thinking of mounting mine there as well

thanks man. It's a bear, be warned... If i had known how difficult it was gonna be, i would have gotten the 2 gallon tank to make it more worth it. When my tank plugs come tomorrow i should have it up and running!

All wired up and running!!

Just waiting for the tank fittings to come in the mail today and I'll finish up with the tank.

Relay - now, the relay came with a socket that has 14G wire. I wanted to be safe and use 10G for the power (pin 30) so I broke the plastic off the socket and stuck a 10G wire with a female connector on it and then taped over it with electrical tape to insulate. I also mounted it on plastic to reduce the chance of shorting with that exposed terminal.

Pressure switch (hasn't been put in the tank yet because my 1/8 adapter hasn't arrived so the terminals arent on all the way:

I have this fancy pressure regulator, right. I was going to use a female connection coupler on the end of the tank so that no air escapes when its pressurized as the male end would just blow air right through.

However, I was thinking, could I use a male connector on the end of the pressure regulator and just shut off the regulator. I'm going to shick the regulator right in the tank, put a swivel on the end of it and connect my hose and control the flow from under there.

Here is the regulator:

Here is a video for proof.

i have an air leak somewhere.... will try and find it tomorrow. i first had 3 and couldnt get above 75 PSI. Now i think i plugged all but apparently not. one of them is being annoying. ill test with soapy water tomorrow.

So now the compressor wont break 75 PSI. Early today it went to 105 without issue. I cant hear any leaks now... any ideas why this would happen?

Do you have a check valve on the line from the compressor to the tank? If the compressor starts with the airline pressurized, it will damage the compressor.

That compressor is crap anyway, do yourself a favor and replace it with a Viair 450C.

I started with the MV50 and now run dual Viair 450s. They look the same on the outside, but the internals are completely different. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f27/smittybilt-mv50-vs-viair-400p-they-same-compressor-834408/index3.html
