One more question on the 2006 sport

I have the 6 disk in dash premuim system ( code "DJ") When I got it I thought it sucked , I still think it suck's !!! but am getting used to it . and it's not so bad. I'm planning on either adding an aftermarket amp to it or switching to the Scion HU.

I'm not a big fan of switching to aftermarket stuff and am not an "Audiophile" but play drum's and into music. So I will try to upgrade something for a little better sound. Probably go with the Scion HU since it's plug and play and people say it sound's much better than stock HU.

I would get your Runner now and figure out the tune's later if it was me. I wanted the JBL 10 speaker but could'nt get it.

The HU makes a huge difference as well, just upgrading the HU on the stock stereo makes a huge difference using the stock speakers.

I'll have to disagree with you. Replacing the cheap paper speakers will always be a much greater improvement in SQ than just replacing the the HU. Whether home or car, I'd rather have good speakers connected to a low end receiver/HU rather than poor speakers connected to a high end receiver/HU.

In the 4Runner, get some quality speakers that are very efficient (don't need a lot of power). You'll definately hear a difference.

[I personally don't like the look of none-OEM head units. Too many of them just look cheesy....like they belong in a teenager's civic with a wing bolted to the trunk. ]

Im not saying doing a HU upgrade is better than a speaker upgrade, I am just saying that upgrading both will make the best sound.

Upgrade the Hu first see how you like it before you start repalcign the rest.

A decent HU will make allot of differance. depending on your listening needs. I don't do all the bass stuff but i like it loud and clean going down the road.

Heps me stay awake on the long drives home from work.
