I've got an '04 Runner with the auto up/down for the window on the driver's side (standard feature I believe). I am wondering if anyone has successfully incorporated an auto up/down button for the passenger window.

I'm pretty sure that it CAN be done because all Sequoias have the auto up/down for both driver and passenger windows.

I want to do the same to my ride, but I'm not sure where to start. I went to a local dealer (Leesburg, VA) and they looked at me like I had 3 heads when I told them what I wanted to do. No help at all.... So, I'm hear asking "the gang" for some help.

I'll keep researching on my own, because I doubt that I'm the only one who wants this feature in my truck and I'll post anything that I come across..

3rd gens were also available with that option; maybe try to find a junked one of those for the components you need. Probably an easier find than a donor Seqouia and cheaper than new parts :)

I still can't believe that my 2000 SR5 load had this and my 2003/2005 Limited full jams didn't.....silly Toyota
 
Can someone help me with my search for additional information? I found one thread where a guy was asking the same question, but I did not find any answers.

North... thanks for the tip on the 3rdGens. I'll take a look around and see if I can find some parts for those.
 
I wanted to do this also. But in my very limited searching i came to the conclusion that the cost would not be worth it. I believe the japanese version of the 4th gen runner has this option from the factory. Good luck, Keep us updated if you find a way to do it.

Thx for the link. I actually had another buddy of mine forward me the same product a few days ago as a possible solution.

Question though... did you do the work your self and if so, how involved was it? Did you have to touch the ECU at all (please forgive me if my question seems silly but I'm really not familiar at all when it comes to electronics w/in a vehicle).

What about the actual buttons? Did you use the existing button or did you have to replace it with the one provided in the package? What about the "click" you feel with the stock buttons... how do you make sure that feature is still present?

Basically, I'm curious about the process. Sorry to throw out all these questions, but ... I really don't know what is or isn't involved with this type of thing.

I figured that would be standard on all 4th gens by now since I think all SR5 models '99 on up had them. Or maybe it was an option with a certain package;my Highlander has it and while it's not neccesary it's a nice feature to have.

Its easy and you use the oem buttons, this is a behind the scenes black box. You have to remove the door panel to get access to the wiring for any switch you want to do and mount a small relay sized unit, 1 for each window.
We did a group buy on my s2000 site (s2ki.com) and got them for $25 a piece.
 
rossmon1 - So you just tap the window switch and it goes all the way down? But if you want it to go partly down, you just hold it down until the desired amount?

Do you remember which wires you tapped for this? Does it come with directions? So you'd need 3 units, because the drivers side front already has one right?

Christian - I'd go in on a group buy with ya :)

i bought 3 of the units, 1 for my convertible top and 2 for the windows in my 2 seater car. I never installed the ones for the windows, just for my convertible top. The operation is as you described, tap it for partial use and hold it down for a sec or so for full auto up down. My soft top works great. The device comes with excellent instructions and someone did a nice howto at s2ki.com
 
Can I trouble you to find the thread on S2ki.com? I perused the site, but I'm not registered so I can't search???
 
May be a dumb question, but I wonder if you can trace the wires to the kick panel and tap the wires and install the relay unit there.
That way you would'nt need to remove the door panel.
