I'm not about to jinx anything by saying I still have Xreas on my 2005 with xxxk miles on it. Nope, not going to do it. Good luck with your fix and yes, reputable shop you're dealing with there.

For what its worth, I had Xreas on mine with 158k and no signs of leaks. But once I replaced them with Bilstein 4600's and FJ Springs, I quickly realized that even though they weren't "blown" and leaking, these things were way past their lifetime.

For what it's worth the xreas system would cost you about $1,800 for a dealer to replace. You should be able to get an entire ome spring and shock setup and they'll still come out cheaper.

Same here. Maybe your shocks are fine, but leaking or not, they're almost 15 years old and surely have well over 100K on them. Trust me, the difference will be night and day. There's a link in my sig with more info if it would be helpful.

I went with Bilstein 5100's and Moog FJ Springs. The springs were crazy cheap off Rock Auto. Really huge bang for buck value, but if I was doing it again I think I'd go for an aftermarket lift spring to get a bit of extra roll stiffness.

ive heard the rear dont seat without cutting .5" off or getting really aggressive seating them. the front moogs are fine though.

Well, sounds like I don't know what good is with the age on my Xreas system. Looks like Bilsteins will be on order soon with new springs. Thanks guys.

I think anyone who has a 4th gen that has XREAS with over 90K miles should just go ahead and rip it all out and replace it with eibach RHA shocks & springs or 5100s & whatever springs float yr boat.

I had difficulty seating mine, so I basically assembled it, dropped it down, and went for a drive around the block, put it back up, wiggled them, and they were golden.

If I were to do it again, I might consider just rounding the offending edge with a dremel and hitting it with some chassis paint. But as it stands, no issues. They've been in for around 7 months currently, daily driving and doing local fire roads and a bit of "sending." :biggrin2:
