I have an 06 4 runner, V8, 250k. I've been told it needs exhaust manifolds on both sides at a cost of $1500 one side, $1700 other side plus 14 hours labour. It did have a pretty loud tick, but that seems to gone away somehow?
It also needs some suspension work, not quite sure what yet and tires soon.
Over the last week it has done this little trick three times..while highway driving at around 80-90k/hr it will hesitate, today it was so bad it made me gasp! I had the defrost on full blast, so I'm not sure if it's a compressor thing or not...I hope to hell it's not slipping gears..
Thoughts? opinions? Should I try to find someone to weld the exhaust manifolds? Will that pass an e-test in April? I've read that the manifolds don't tend to leak on the V8's, this is my second one...I traded the first one when I was looking at $4000 in repairs.
Am I better off trading this truck in or doing the repairs? What can I expect to get out of an 06 with 250k?
