Opinions on Cooper Discoverer HTP

I'm looking at some Cooper Discoverer HTP tires for my OEM replacements. I have minor offroad need/use, so mpg is important to me. And so far, my offroading adventures have been perfectly capable with OEM 20s. These new ones would be the standard 265/70/17 size (found a set of new trail rims).

Thoughts? Anyone running them? Okki, you got some Coopers, but I believe they were something else?

I have run the Cooper AT3's for 15K miles with no problems. They are a good tire. I don't know the HTP's though. Mine are stock size P rated. I rotate them every 10K and the wear is very good.

Although not Cooper and an AT I would in the same situation you described run REVO2s. Fairly aggressive look and handle well on and off road.... should not affect mileage. Best all around tire I have run... but the Cooper rebates make them hard to beat right now

AT3's

I have had the AT/3's Since July and about 3k miles. I really like them a lot so far. We have yet to experience bad weather (California) but that will be the last test for me.

MPG's, I can tell you that without resetting anything, I have lost 1MPG. I used to average 17.5 now I average 16.5. I am running 275's , maybe wouldn't be the case if i was running 265's. However, I would not go to 265's and this is why -
We went to Gorman a bunch of us this month. We ended up on a "black diamond trail" , I didn't know it was black diamond till we were in middle of it lol. Anyway, there was a 3 point turn on top of the mountain, very sharp turn with dips and what not... I honestly think, the only thing that saved me from tipping was the extra width of the tires... Than again, what do I know.

Just my personal observation. Anyway, the AT/3's took about 1500 miles before they set in i felt like, but now they are just fine ..

I'm running Discoverer APT's. It's definitely a more aggressive tire and probably not your choice for mileage. That said, with the lighter TRD rims I've seen a small improvement in MPG over the OEM 20 inchers. I don't have my spreadsheet handy here at work but I can post the number if you need me to later tonight.

Overall I have been very happy with my Coopers. Nice quiet ride (not noticeably louder than OEM), good wear so far, decent price and a good warranty. They have been awesome in the rain so far. I have not knowledge on the HTP's because I was looking for a more offroad (AT) tire.

I ended up going with the Cooper AT3s instead of the HTP. I will probably suffer a little in gas mileage, but after reading 1engineer's review and JT (I think) P vs LT review, I think I made the right choice.

175 in discounts on a set of 4 doesn't hurt either. If anyone is on the fence and considering a tire purchase, discount tire has a sale going on now (until 11/4). Either $50 off over the phone or $100 MIR if you order through their ebay store. Then stack that with a $75 MIR from Cooper and you're $175 off the set of 4. I ended up using this twice this weekend and got my wife a new set of tires before winter. There are a few other vendors, but I ended up with Cooper. Links below for those who care.

eBay is 205 ea 1025 for 5 -175 is 860 shipped
DTD is 172 ea 860 for 5 -75 is 785 shipped

Are they matching the online price at the eBay auction?

I've called them a few times to get the exact tire I'm comparing prices on. In the end, I'd rather have a $100 MIR than $50 off instantly.
