Ordered '18 TRD Pro

$5K above MSRP is ridiculous. You guys should try Costco or AAA. There are way better deals to be had than that.

Even MSRP is a bit much. There's a reason they call you back everyday.........

You need to be less desperate to buy one than they are to sell you one.

I see a calvary blue TRD PRo 4runner. I go in talk to a salesman and test drive the car. Their selling price was sticker plus $5k on top. Their final price out the door was $995 off which was about $49k out the door.

I leave and tell them im gonna go look at antwerpen in clarksville.

Next day they ask why i left, i told them im gonna look at the one at antwerpen which was listed at msrp. The sales guy that called was not the guy that i origionally talked to but another sales guy since the dude that helped me was in training since he was new. He says do we have a deal if we sell at antwerpens price which was 44k and some change then the tax tags title on top which will total around 48k. I tell the sales guy im busy and cant do anything.

Fast forward another day the sales manager calls and gives me some bs saying he has some never done before deals etc. says hell give me another 1000 off out the door price. I decline and he accuses me of not ever having interest in buying which i tell him not for 5k above msrp.

I ended up going to antwerpen and test drive the truck and evrything. Their price was 4k above msrp. The sales manager wouldnt even give me a price out without wanting to sign paperwork. So i leave. Sales man calls back the next day and follows up and i ask if he has a number, and he says its 4k above msrp. I decline and tell him i put a deposit on one from


Few days later I put a deposit on a super white trd pro 4runner at another dealer that is selling at msrp. Set to arrive april 1.

I talked to them, was told the same thing.
Bought one a week later in Uniontown, PA for $44K.

Seems like all the calvary blues are sold at $5k above msrp in md. One dealership wouldnt stop calling me.....

How does the costco auto thing work?

Most auto buying programs do not work with special order cars like the TRD Pro. I've tried during my search. Take advice from those that have a TRD Pro and not from those that don't. Read the main TRD Pro thread for info - yes read the entire thing.

Costco will give you a list of dealers in your area or as close as they can get to you, that have pre-set no haggle prices on most models of vehicles.
You then tell the dealer what you want and they pull out the set price list and tell you what the price is.

On my 4Runner Trail, it was $2K less than what I could get best price when I went in and haggled on my own. (Same vehicle, same dealer, they were pissed I went through costco)

Then I went to AAA to see what they could do for me, they put me in touch with a different dealer 40 miles away, who beat the Costco no haggle price by another $3k.

I did have to wait for the AAA dealer to "order" (another story) the vehicle as opposed to picking it up that day, but for a $5K difference, 8-9 weeks was worth it to me. They could have sold me one off the lot, but I figured it was my money, I should just get the one I want, not what they had collecting dust in the showroom.

FYI, When I went to pick it up, I drove past 6 Toyota dealerships on the way.....all of which could have made the sale, if they hadn't tried to screw me out of $5k. Most people don't research enough and end up over paying :confused:

One side note: This is only my advise/experience, you can all do whatever the hell you want, it's your hard earned cash, and it doesn't really matter if I own a TRDPro or not. Now arguably I haven't read any of the TRDPro thread, nor will I, but I would never advise anyone to over pay by $5K on any product, even if it is blue :(

I'm in CA. All the dealers Costco put me in touch with either said they don't have any Pros in stock so couldn't give me a pricing (and couldn't order) or the Pros were not part of the program.

They quit calling and emailing me when I told them I'd bought one.
With no market adjustment.

Between my wife and I we spent a little time online just doing car searches.
That's how we found this one.

Wasn't on the dealership website yet, it was on True Car or something.

I also saw TRD Off Road models for as high as $56K.

I have never, ever, had any luck trying to order a Toyota.

SoCal dealerships don't do TrueCar/Costco/AAA pricing for 4Runners at all, much less the TRD Pro trim.

I agree the program could have changed a bit in the last 5-6 years since I got mine. At that time there were only 3 versions of 4Runners, the SR5, Trail and Limited. I saw the Costco price list for all 3 models at the dealership, so at least back then they were not holding anything back.

It still can't hurt to ask........

I placed my order on Nov 4 2017 for a 2018 TRD Pro in Cavalry Blue. Still waiting to hear when the dealer will actually get allotted one.

Seriously? If you haven't gotten it by now, chances are you won't. You need to start cold calling other dealerships.
 
Just curious, is anyone had any experience buying out of state? and why do so many people order the TRDP versus traveling out of state to get it?

You need to start looking else where. I ordered my TRD Pro Cavalry Blue February 13 and had it in my possession February 27. Paid 42k out the door for it and got 32k for my 16 Trail with 19k miles and an accident.

Im looking to get a CAV blue one around July, I'm going the old school route and putting 20% down so i'm waiting until then. I have only seen one TRDP in WV since I started checking in October so I figured I would have to travel out of state. I think going out of state sounds better so I was just curious why it seems so many people order instead of traveling. Plus it can be a nice mini vacation haha
 
Having attempted to order (build request) a TRD Pro Tundra for over a year, and the same route with a 4Runner I have no faith in it.

We stumbled on this one, wasted no time and went to get it.

So for me the "even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while" was more reliable than ordering.

Thats how I imagined the ordering process going. Im in Charleston but I went to school in morgantown so I'll keep an eye out up there. I've been using cars.com and those websites to see where they are all at so when I am ready to get one I will just call all the places where I see one and go that route
