Ordered a "Plug and Play" Android headunit

Which year/trim do you have? I mainly used youtube videos to figure out wiring up my backup cam and steering wheel controls. Other than that it was pretty straight forward with wiring the harness to the adapter. Make sure you adjust the gain for your music before putting the unit in and putting the dash back together.

03 Limited with the JBL crap system. Working on it now, trying to figure out what is what.

Got the head unit installed and working. No steering wheel controls yet. I got a Maestro SW and was all set to wire it in and come to find out it looks like I'm missing the harness that plugs into the stereo. Have the side you are supposed to wire into the vehicle harness but that's it.

Also have gaps all around the head unit since it didn't come with any trim pieces. V8Limited4wd, what did you use to fill the gaps?

Was your factory sub blown? Let us know how the sound is (both the sub and overall) once you get up and running.

It was working, kind of. It basically fell apart in my hands when I removed it tho.

Not getting a lot of bass out of the Pioneer. I didn't turn up the volume or other settings before pulling the old head unit, which apparently you are supposed to. But it does work just fine and overall, the sound isn't horrible. I do have a blown passenger front speaker so the next step is to replace all the door speakers. Just need some funds and to decide with what. Then I'll look at replacing the amp with something else.

I wired up the SWC directly to the ATOTO so you don’t need that adapter. I had the OEM nav so I didn’t have that empty space around the unit. You might have to buy the entire center frame from a limited.

I have a limited, just didn't have nav. I'll have to do some searching to see if there's a difference in the systems.

You weren’t able to remove just the sub screen cover?

When I got the whole panel off, you could see where the smaller cover should pop out but it was plastic welded in place from the factory. Maybe later years changed that.

So it does look like if your 4R had nav or the basic, non-JBL system, without RDS and all that crap, the dash bezels ARE different. So I need to buy a new dash bezel to resolve the gaps that I have.

You can see the differences in the attached pics. The first one was with nav or at least non-JBL/RDS.

The second pic is what I have that had the JBL system with RDS but no nav.

Who exactly are you asking this question of?

If you want an answer from someone in particular or even several posters you need to either quote them or mention them like this Trigle , a @ symbol and then their exact user's name with no space, doing either will notify them of your interest in their post or subject matter, otherwise no one will most likely answer your question because no one knows who you're directing the question too!

Go for it. I have no idea what the difference is. I actually enjoy working on my vehicle instead of having someone else do it.

my bad, im a noob, lol. my question in general is the same across a couple of forums that people are ordering no name head units from online when you can just go to best buy and buy a name brand android unit for 2-300 bucks with free installation! i get if you like to do the work yourself but youre also getting a warranty whereas these no name brands might not stand behind their products as much. i just got my 4runner today and this is the first thing i need to do so just learning.

ATOTO support has been great so far. Little slow due to Chinese New Year but they are responsive and have a support website as well. The HU is also well liked by the FJ guys. I'm not overly concerned.

Yeah I meant a limited with Nav. I don't think there's any other way to close that gap around the unit.

Yeah, that is the only solution with this particular head unit. Not a big deal, just extra $$. Console bezels aren't cheap on ebay or elsewhere. Most I'm seeing are over $150.

The ATOTO A6 Pro is an android tablet which has been customized for use in automobiles - you can use it as an android tablet OR you can have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. All the other name brand stereos that are limited to their own UI with the option of using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

xtremewlr found this dash kit after lots of digging. A couple reviews specifically mention this piece working for a 2004 T4R limited w/ jbl and rds. That's exactly what I have. Thought it might be worth checking out!

Nope, that won't work with the ATOTO A6Y, even if you have the same radio/console bezel I have. Your only choice with the ATOTO is to replace that trim piece with the non-JBL or nav one.
