Spiker engineering hood struts and phone mount, B3HD rear cupholder/single front cupholder/SR5 front fender “mudflaps”, and front and rear driveshafts from 4xshaft. All for my “new to me” manual fixer-upper. Still waiting on a guy to pull a transfer case and exhaust for me.

Wow that's a lot of goodies. Say, tell me about those mudflaps... I could use some upfront...
And 4xshaft... Do they rebuild?

I picked up a Sherpa Antero rack and a TNF plate front bumper. I really did try to find a way to do a different WIY bumper, but the cost of the gear and time and finding space just didn't line up. Last thing I want is a half-ass Chinese welding rig from HF. I hate to buy cheap throwaway stuff, but especially tools. So, there will be many payments spread out via Affirm and PP4 over the next 6 months....at least I can still buy a couple gifts for the wife and kids. After putting in 1.5 years doing all the boring maintenance stuff -except for skids and sliders- I needed to get the rig a couple of gifts. Big plans and trips coming up in the Spring and again next fall when it's cooler out (lots of desert time). I'll be removing the spare tire and hitch for clearance and stowing the spare elsewhere when needed and living with the back bumper for the time being. Maybe do a hitch-flip mod if I come across the correct hitch because it's kinda of nice to have something solid to grind on in the rear. Happy not to grind the Fat Lip anymore - it's about to start coming apart......

But yeah I feel ya on giving gifts to the rig... I've been working on my build for way too long now... Next plan is to redo my skids and get the sliders installed... Though the other day I saw some BOLT on sliders for 3rd gens...so now I am thinking about whether I want to use mine or try some different ones...

Hitch-flip is a low budget way the get some extra departure angle at the rear end. I don't think it's very popular anymore (was it ever? -IDK). Basically, the hitch assembly on certain 3rd Gens are 3 piece (bolted together) rather than 1-piece so you can flip the crossmember containing the hitch receiver thereby gaining some clearance. To do so, you need to cut a notch in the factory bumper to fit the receiver. Probably frowned upon by the self-respecting Overlander these days, but is in the back of my mind if I come across one at the yard....
I have some Shrockworks bolt-on sliders - I would just get sliders welded if I had it to do again. There is a good deal of frame-drilling with step-bits and cursing involved. Took the better part of an afternoon to get them on. Happy with them but just sayin....

4xshaft is tom wood's and I don't think they do any rebuilds but I didn't have any driveshafts worth rebuilding lol

Well that's really cool, although it looks like they only come in black? My truck has that tan/bronze or whatever, colored wheel well things
The ones I linked only work with the standard black SR5 flares. It won't work with the wider color matched flares or sport flares.

Thanks for the feedback on the bolt on... I'm just hesitant to get anything welded as so far I haven't really found any reasonable welding shops

Welp, ended up having to cancel my order. Long story short, I found out that the baja rack adds 8 INCHES to the height of the roof. 8 inches, that's insane...
So... now I am looking at the sherpa, but I had that it has no "floor" or bottom. Anyone ever added expanded metal to their sherpa?

What are you hauling that would require a "floor"? I would think most everything would be able to rest on at least 2 of the cross rails and then be properly secured/strapped.
Just a heads up, there's the 3 piece style on the sfbay craigslist that got posted a couple hours ago.

Mostly just a preference. I like the idea of not having to worry if I drop something while loading it and hitting the roof. Large open gaps just seems odd to me... Plus it would be nice to be able to stand up there, maybe lay down and watch the stars. I guess i could add more cross bars.

I'm sure you could add expanded sheet mesh but I would be worried about causing a rattle or vibration where the mesh meets the crossbars. It might get in the way of tie downs as well.

This thread went way off track but the $10 deal was all good! Thanks again for posting that CL link. Oddly, he said only 1 other person had expressed interest. He didn't even make me cart off any of the stuff shown that I couldn't use (bumper, etc). Great guy with a beautiful house and all the best armor and gear going into his own rig.
He does have a set of tan cloth-covered rear seats in pretty nice condition with the carpet-backing piece, belts and bolts if anyone here in the Bay is interested.

You could maybe do more cross bars and the Sherpa plate thing they have, I’d imagine you would get close to having almost all the gaps covered depending on spacing. Would probably get a little pricy though
