Democrats say: The last few gun massacres were caused by muslim terrorists. So now we need to take away the 2nd ammendment and use the UN blue helmets to do it. We will add all NRA members to the no buy list. Do a country wide registration/confriscation, then strip the rest of our countries freedoms and ammendments and start our new world order!

I have no specific issues with Canada's firearm laws with the exception of the incredibly difficult situation you will face if you defend your property or family at home. I also don't think we can compare our firearm laws to the US. Regardless of where you are, "only a good guy with a gun can defend against a bad guy with a gun". And, there are more illegal firearms here now more than ever before.

So, part of me thinks you're playing right into my previous point. And another part of me does agree that yes, words mean things. If legislators don't know what they're talking about, they're likely to draft shit that doesn't solve anything and will probably infringe on gun owners. So, yeah.
But I'm willing to bet there's really no legislature that AR-15 style weapon owners would accept beyond, "no action at all".
I also think my original point stands. People who want to defend themselves... When the **** is anybody going to go to a night club with an AR-15 in their back pocket. Self defense lies more in pistols and CCW. While that's a whole 'nother can of worms not worth opening.
For what [MENTION=133021]propain[/MENTION] posted, I watched the video and 2 things really stuck out to me:
1, he's right, he's extremely well trained and versed in weaponry and his opinion matters based on his presumed background. But everybody else he talks about likely does not come anywhere near a level of proficiency with weapons that he has.
2, I think am AR-15 is a terrible weapon to defend a home. It's, large, unwieldy in tight areas, and the round will easily pierce walls and potentially harm family members/neighbors.

Look at the pictures I posted earlier in this thread. It is common practice in Israel.
AR-15's are excellent home defense weapons. It is a lot easier to accurately shoot a rifle than a pistol. When was the last time you saw a SWAT team do room clearing with pistols? How bout the military? Do they all pull out their M9's and Mossberg 590's when going into a building to clear rooms? They all use M4's and it is for a reason.

sometimes they do. as I said earlier, AR's, and rifles in general are used very little for murder of any kind. be it a mass shooting or otherwise.
many people truly fail to recognize whats really going on. also note, there are MILLIONS of AR's, owned by law abiding citizens that are NOT used in ANY type of crime, every single day.
if the gun was a problem, if THAT gun was the problem, we would see a hell of a lot more killings with it...

also, I believe that hammers/fists/blunt objects kill more people than guns every year. certainly more than rifles.

everything ive read, and the videos ive seen says otherwise. 9mm will pass through walls much easier than 5.56mm.
I used to think the same way as you, but have since learned that's not the case.
after the first wall, the 5.56 bullet is destabilized, and tumbling, whereas the 9mm(and other pistols rounds) will continue straight through.
that is to say, BOTH will penetrate multiple wall layers, but the pistol rounds go further, and straighter.
