Orlando Attack...ISIS claims it!

Considering the fact that I just destroyed JDs argument by putting it into historical context there's really not much left to argue.

Perhaps one of you should post up more insightful quotes from Neil deGrasse Tyson. :)

How about Facebook's very own Republican Jesus?

"I fully support those on a terrorist watch list being able to buy a gun because we can't deny them due process. There is this little thing called the constitution you know.

Now...can we get started on banning an entire religion from entering the country already?"

I previously posted an article from the Boston Globe regarding the effectiveness of such lists. Its a few pages back if you'd care to read it.

Also, I think the ACLU makes a very strong case against the use of no-fly lists.

Recent reports are saying that there were no injuries (outside of those effected by tear gas) other than the gunman himself.

Earlier I spoke of the dangers of jumping to conclusions before facts can be fully gathered. Above is a prime example.

I guess this just goes to show that it is up to the reader to decide. What you seem to think "destroyed" my argument I thought was laughable and unworthy of response. That post alone goes to show how little you understand the issue at hand and how ridiculously exaggerated you see the measures being proposed. It's, quite frankly, childish.

Nope, I was there, he destroyed your argument like Brawndo destroyed my thirst.

Millions of people oppressed, tortured and murdered by tyrannical governments and you find it laughable.

Clearly you're doubling-down on stupid. Do continue...

What a willfully ignorant interpretation of my response. It is your implication I find laughable not the suffering of others. I thought that would be obvious but I guess some people need things spelled out for them (speaking of doubling down on stupid).

The modest measures being proposed do not come close to equating the conditions of some of the dictators you posted. To suggest that any of these measures are going to transform america into some kind of fascist state is ludicrous. Personally I find the entire idea that you are going to overthrow the 21st century american military just as ludicrous. I think you greatly underestimate your own military's armament and capabilities, the willingness of your own military to kill their fellow citizens and the significant changes in the rate at which information disseminates in the modern world.

Every argument you make seems to be based on the idea that someone is advocating for the complete disarming of the public. That is not the case that anyone is making. Not even close.

There is nothing modest about legislation which would grant an unelected and secret bureaucracy the power to deny any citizen of their constitutionally protected rights without due process. It is by definition authoritarianism. And it is authoritarianism which leads to fascism.

The facts stand in stark contrast to your ill informed opinion.

From attempts to ban common AR-15 ammo, to New York's gun registration and round limitation, to proposed legislation that would impose civil liability on manufacturers, individuals and dealers that are lawfully conducting firearms transfers. And let's not forget about Fast and Furious...

These are all steps designed to do exactly that... disarm the public.

You couldn't be more wrong.

EDIT:

Ahhhhh..... What am I saying?!?!?! Of course you could.

I think you are confusing the military with the government. I have talked with many many people that are retired military. I don't think I have meet one that if someone asked them who's side would you be on, the people or the government, they would 99% say the people. Don't you think that's one of the main reasons that all retired military is watched by the current HLS more closely than the average citizen. They have actually released memos that state "watch out for former military. Use extreme caution if you hear them talk of the constitution or Christianity." I may not have the quote exact but it's damn close. This has all been leaked or released through FOIA. They know damn well the military personnel are people not politicians.

I have friends that I shoot with that are current and former military. I can go present my CPL at a gun store do my BGC and get a pistol same day. They usually get put on hold for a day or longer. All have CPL's and clean records. They just get looked at harder than the average citizen.

I will end with this JD
"If you can't stand behind our men and women in the military. Please feel free to stand in front of them"

Right. Thats basically the point I'm trying to make.

It's the exact opposite of your point in post 459. Were you state "to suggest that any of these measures are going to transform America into some kind of fascist state is ludicrous. I think you greatly underestimate your own military's armament and capabilities, the willingness of your own military to kill their fellow citizens and the significant changes in the rate at which information disseminate in the modern world"

So what do you believe? The military would stand with the people or the government? You seem to not realize how you contradict yourself.

The quoted text was meant to serve as a list of reasons I see the hypothetical scenario being discussed as implausible. I dont see the military turning on civilians, and in the hypothetical scenario in which they did I dont see civilians winning in a conflict.

I am done trying to talk to a liberal. You seem to choose the easiest course for you opinion then change it to fit your needs. Good luck.

What? I've tried to clearly spell out everything you've asked for you. "The easiest course for your opinion"? "Then change it to fit your needs" ? What are you talking about??
