Good Day All!

Just wondering who is going to Overland Expo West this year? This will be my first time going. I can only attend on Sunday May 22nd, but would be awesome to meet fellow forum members. Possible meet up before hand and roll in together? Even some wheeling after or something. Just gauging interest.

The one day passes are cheaper this year and Sunday is only $10.
We are going for sure. Probably camping somewhere nearby.

I'm going to try to go this year. Don't know if I'll be able to pull off a camping trip, not to mention, the fire restrictions will likely be in full swing by that time. But a day trip on sunday should be warranted!

We are going to head up EARLY Friday and try for a camp site in Pinegrove campground which is north of Mormon Lake. Probably won't go to the Overland expo till Sunday cause it's only $10 then. It will be Dukes first camp trip.....should be interesting.

I have a couple of camping spots I use when I'm up there hunting that I'm going to try and plunk down in. Otherwise, probably late saturday morning will be my take-off time. Set up camp, hit the lake, then hit the bottle then hit the sack... sunday will be expo time. There is usually cell coverage along most of the FS roads between munds park and mormon lake road, so shoot me a text. See you there!

My plan was to go camping up there friday-sunday and go to the expo saturday, but my camping plans are falling through. I am either going up for the day on Saturday and coming back that night, or doing that on sunday. Not sure yet.

That difference in price between Saturday and Sunday is $15 better spent on craft beer in Flag.

[MENTION=122900]AZBub[/MENTION] I can get you on fish pretty much anywhere in Arizona. Was just over at the Salt River this weekend fishing right where the tubers were putting in and I caught at least a dozen trout. It was fun dodging tubes with a fish on the line. LOL! I'd say renew it and I can show you some techniques over at Ashurst or Lower Lake Mary. I'm usually a lure or fly fisher, but there is always bait if all else fails.

There are a ton of built 5th and 4th gens at Pinegrove Campground, seems everyone and their brother have expedition trailers. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jelly.

I haven't been up to Big Lake in forever... that's on my list for this summer though. According to the G&F fishing report, it's doing pretty well. One of the nice things about that lake is the number of hold-over trout that is has in it, so you do have a chance at catching some much larger fish. If big fish is your thing and you don't mind catch and release, then there is Becker Lake outside of Springerville...

There were an absolute ton of over-built rigs up there, along with lots of epic beards, skinny jeans, flannels and man-buns. It was absolutely a hipster nightmare... Beyond that, lots of cool goodies. Next year I'll be more prepared (cash on hand) to take better advantage of the deals they had going for the expo only... I got off cheap this year and only picked up a Goal Zero Nomad 7 solar charger.

Yeah the Toytec guys were super down to earth and kinda joked along with us.

Got some great info on some products Im very interested in and its nice to see them hands on. Dometic CFX fridge is on the list. The Tembotusk Skottle is always a favorite. Camp Buddy hot water heaters, National Luna split charge DBS. I also drooled over Roys (aka Savage offroad) 3rd gen with front and rear armor and rear tire carrier.

A new RTT system iKamper was pretty cool with the slide out making a larger than king sleeping area with a very small and flat profile, just don't like the $3,000+ price tag.

Next year no more campsite camping for us since we got introduced to a killer spot that serves up NY strips and Costco dinner franks ;-).

I went Saturday and it was crazy. Next year I will go for the weekend and probably not bring the family. We never even made it out of the vendor area, and I didn't get to look at a lot of the stuff I wanted to.
I agree the Skottle is pretty cool, but it is pricey.
I talked to Michael from Overland Bound and he was a really nice guy. I can appreciate that he does the whole overland thing with a cooler still. I'm sure that will change at some point though.

Anyways, I look forward to getting to know some of you after I actually buy my T4R. lol I finally have the funds ready but still deciding Trail or SR5 and add a locker.

Is the crawl control and terrain stuff really worth it? Or is it more for the locker? I really like the fact that I could have a locker and not mess with it. But right now is seems like they are $4-5K difference. I'm looking 14+ used at the moment.

for the locker. and if you are looking at premium, solid color interior. I like the lever to engage 4x4 over the knob too. I bought new, and I figure the resale value of the trail is going to be higher too.

For me, it's definitely the locker. The crawl control works but I don't ever use it. Oh yeah, I had to have the hood scoop as well!

Well the scoop does look good lol.
I've been holding out for the right deal on a Trail, but sometimes I get impatient and start browsing the SR5 ads, knowing that I could get one and add a locker and still spend less $$. But I like not messing with any warranty stuff and still having all the capabilities...grrrr
