OW 2.0 Lift v. OME 885 front, 895 rear: advice please

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum. I have an '08 V6 SR5 and looking to do my first lift.

I narrowed it down to the OME and OW 2.0. Anyone has experience with either setup or both who can give me their feedback and preference would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Both are excellent systems, can't go wrong with either. Benefits of the OW kit are:
1. It's adjustable for lift height, this also allows you to adjust to compensate for added weight, such as a bumper. With OME you would have to buy new coils.
2. Rebuildable
3. Designed specifically for the 4th gen, whereas OME its designed for the platform in general (i.e. to work with the 4 runner and FJ Cruiser).

I will suggest running Toytec super flex rear coils instead of the ome coils, if you go that route. The omes IMO are way too stiff in the rear if you don't have weight added.

Thanks ARK.

I do notice the OW 2.0 setup is about $400.00 more. But it makes sense given the advantages you listed.

ARK, what rear shocks would you recommend to go with the toytec superflex if i go with the OME front and toytec rear setup as you suggested.

You can use the ome shocks. Some have used 5100s all around, can't say it's better but they are happy. I have 5100s and ome coils on the front, really like it. Main reason I went with the 5100s is because I already had them. Ome 895s are 40-45% stiffer than stock, the Toytec coils are 10-15% stiffer, huge difference.

If your gonna add bumpers, go with OW. If you just want a good 3" lift, go with OME. I have OME 885's with Superflex coils and 5100's all around and couldn't be happier with the price and final product!

ARK and Casper, how much lift am i getting in the front n back if I go with the 885 and superflex without the spacers, either with OME shocks or Bilsteins?

It is recommended to use the 884s with a v6 if you are going to stay with stock bumpers. They should give a little under 3", you'd need the top plate spacer for a full 3" in the front. The 885s would probably be to stiff, but would provide over 3". The Toytec rear coils will give approx 2".

I see, cool. 3/2 lift would probably level my truck out right? do you think the rear sits 1 inch higher or only 1/2 inch higher stock?

Ome 885/895 will sit just like this. I love my setup.

Im running a 1/2" spacer with the 885s and have about 3.5" of lift. So without the spacer, you would get about 3" with V8 and maybe 3.25" with V6, along with a rough ride. Last time i measured the rear i was at 2.25". It might have settled more, ill check tomorrow.

I have a V6 with 885's, and the ride is not too rough at all. The spring rates are the same between 884's and 885's. The only difference is that the 885's are 10 mm longer, thus providing an extra 20 mm of lift to compensate for the extra weight of a V8 vs. V6.

I wanted a full 3" without messing around with a topout spacer, so I went with the 885's instead over the 884's. I didn't measure before I did my lift so I can't say for sure how much the 885's got me in the front, but it's right around 3". http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/103219-lift-finally-installed.html

can you get the full 3" with just the coils? Or just the shocks? Or do i have to upgrade both for it to work?

Coils provide all the lift. Technically, you don't have to upgrade shocks for it to work, but 3" lift coils with stock shocks might cause some issues (topping out, improperly valved, etc.) so it's recommended to upgrade both.

Cant beat OME for the Price and Durability IMO. The lift kit is only 700 bucks and you can mix and match what shock/coils you want depending on the weight you have. Sure they prob arent as soft or smooth as the ICON or OW Coilovers but a lifts a lift. If you want comfortable save the 5 grand and buy a second car.

I have the 886/896 right now with NO weight and yes its bumpy but I planned ahead for bumpers which should be arriving next week:biggrin2: Plus i came from a jeep wrangler which had front and rear live axles. The 4runner is STILL not as bumpy as that and i havent even added my weight on yet....So its only gonna get better.
