I just read this story on Drudge and jumped on here to post it, but Glenn Law beat me to it. God Bless Texas! I'm a 12th generation Texan dating back to when it was part of New Spain. It was then and still is tough country.

I agree with Stifler on that one.
As for you others wanting to move down here. Not that you won't be welcomed, but how about fighting to change what is happening in you own states. Sure it's an uphill battle, but it took time to make it the way it is now, it'll take time to make it logical again.

Personally if the two people who where potentially armed males, where in the process of stealing my car, I would let them. ITS A CAR. IT CAN BE REPLACED. WE HAVE INSURANCE.
I don't know the full story... but from what has been said in the news article it seems they (the two thief's) where there to steal the car and not enter the home (speculation and not fact). Therefore I don't see the point in risking the safety of your family in a poteinal crossfire just to protect a materialistic object that CAN BE REPLACED... LIVES NOT. Now if they where to enter the house and pose a threat to family and/or friends, different story. IMO
I know this will piss people off, but really ask yourself at the end of the day, would it be worth it. I wouldn't be able to sleep for a long time knowing I took another person life albeit a robber/thief/crook. It would taunt be forever. Not to mention the what if's that could of occurred.

Its a tough one because on one hand I feel sad that someone had to lose their life over a material posession like a car. There are no second chances for that person, their life ceases to be over a car and thats awful. Like MeBe4running said, if the person was genuinely just stealing the car and not entering the house, lives didn't need to be taken.
On the other, you should be prepared for that risk if you're stealing someone's property in Texas. I lived in Houston for 2 years and loved it there. The long and short of it is honestly, don't mess with Texas.
