P.O. installed “Octane Lighting” headlights. Now they don’t work. Input appreciated

On my new to me 02 Sport. They look stock, but behind the lights there are wires and various boxes. They are bright as all get out, and I loved them until they stopped working. First passenger side was intermittent, and then not at all. Now neither one of them works. Behind the passenger headlight there is a little rectangular box, maybe 2“ x 3“, that says X6 35W. Next to that there was a tire rectangle box that says 23,000 V.

Any idea what I have and what went wrong? I’ve never had high tech headlights before and my headlight knowledge is limited to buy new bulbs and putting them in.

MY thought it they failed already so don't replace that stuff.

I'd go back to stock, do LED upgrades (the list of brands grows everyday) or go all the way to Morimotos. Luck and enjoy the runner. :cowboy:

Sounds like they did a HID conversion on the stock lights. Probably just need ballasts. However, just know that you're blinding the shit out of everyone coming at you.

As Cree said, they are probably blinding everyone else on the road. However, the brand new F-250's are like looking at the sun when they're coming at you at night! There should be an inline fuse somewhere in that system. I would check that first. There is more than likely 2 different ballasts...1 for each headlight. Unlikely that they both went out at the same time. The flickering could have been from a corroded contact or loose ground. Check the fuse first, then ground, then the connections.

blinding ass lights

not sure what the rest of you do...but at night, I wear those yellow tinted glasses to offset the rude white light..sometimes I am not sure if its a single bright light or its their high beams.

You can also check to see if any of the ground wires are corroded. If the grounds are bad they probably won't work.

So that’s what I thought when I first bought the rig. But, and I kid you not, I have not had one person flash me as if I had my brights on. Maybe they are aimed down or something?

If your not getting flashed your good. I get flashed in my caddy with stock hids. It's funny when I hit them with the real brights. Lol

How do LED’s compare to what I have now? (HID?) Kind of used to what I have. If LED is OK, what brands are best? Meaning brightest.

Honestly, do yellow glasses really work? Or is it really just fun to make everything look all trippy & yellow @ night...cause I’d probably still wear them even if it only made shit look weird or trippy
