I'm trying to understand why doesn't my O2 simulator (diy) doesn't seem to work for my GF's '08 4Runner limited V8. The same exact simulator is working fine for my '96 80 series Landcruiser.
A typical O2 simulator is a simple RC circuit, slowing down the pulses going into an ECU. Does a modern ECU have some sort of extra programming that I'm simply not able to fool? I wouldn't think so.

P420, P430 - catalyst below threshold, usually occurs after you manage to destroy your cats due to fuel lean conditions. My GF's '08 had a fuel pump issue and it took a while for me to diagnose so I'm guessing the manifold cats are shot.
I think I can renew the cats but removing the manifolds is such a royal PITA.
