P0606 help

P0606 HELP Please

I did a search and didn't come back with much info so here I am..

2005 4runner v8 with 116k
Today randomly without warning, on the first start of the day and about 5 min into the drive, and without any symptoms, the MIL light came on along with illuminating all the traction control lights. I pulled over and plugged in my bluetooth obd2 scanner. The fault code came back as a P0606 which is something ive never seen before on any vehicle. When I looked it up it says internal fault to the ECU and would not allow me to clear it.

I went home, parked the truck for an hour or so and went back out to it.. started it up and went to scan it again. The obd2 bluetooth scanner would not connect to the computer at all. I drove it to a friends house and used their scanner... same code came up and it cleared right away. I drove again a few more times and it hasnt come back. The bluetooth scanner has been able to reconnect and everything else looks normal.

So what am I dealing with. Is the ecu toast? Is my truck being attacked by aliens, or like a few other things this truck has done since I owned it.. it will fix itself and never come back again lol.

Check all your ground straps and cables. Make sure they are connected and without a lot of rust.

Anyone have a diagram of where they are located so I don't miss any

What do you mean the DTC will not clear?

Does the MIL go out after you clear the DTC or does it just come back on with the DTC being "Current?"

When it first happened it wouldn't clear.. When I hit clear code it would say clear and nothing would happen. Mil light stayed on. After I went and got another scanner I was able to clear it. It has not returned so far.

Code came back.. I tried to clear it and it does not go away. There are absolutely no symptoms or other codes. Someone please help before I get robbed at the dealer.

There is very little info on this issue and the few things I have found have instances of people who have paid to have their ECU's replaced and the code came back anyway.

Found this link.. Is there any truth to that? Ive never personally changed the 02 sensors since ive owned the truck.. its possible they are original.

That is very possible, if a technician can rule out the AFR and O2 sensors then it will point to the ECM. But I have seen O2 Sensors cause that code sometimes.

Is it something I can look at with the torque app on my phone or does it require a specific tool to see if they are within range?
