painting center console trim???

Is it possible to repaint the silver plastic console on an 05 yourself? My wife managed to take a sizable piece of paint out of the side of the center console (the part that's painted silver) and I'm getting ready to sell the 4runner and get a Tundra. I'd really like to get this fixed prior to selling it if possible, but I don't want spend hungreds doing it either. Can anyone tell me what my options are or how to do it if you jave experience doing it yourslf?

Mine too has scratches from the metal feet on my wife's purses. Painting plastic was a dumb idea by Yota - not durable at all. I wonderr of sopme of that vinyl film that can be heated and applied with a hair dryer would work. I'd be afraid to even ask the price for a replacement piece of plastic!

It probably will be hard to get an exact color match. But go for a paint formulated for plastic, like Krylon Fusion. Depending on your model, you might need to paint the trim for the center stack as well, so the color mismatch isn't noticable.

The interior silver, tube steps and center silver sections on the bumper of earlier 4th gens, no one, not even dealers have the paint codes for. A body shop with more advanced equipment might be able to make you some touch up for it, but it'll probably be expensive.

I was considering painting mine a satin or gloss black with the krylon fusion spray paint that is made for plastics. I am waiting until I can figure out how to remove the silver trim pieces on the doors. Once I can figure out how to remove them, I am going to paint them along with my center console panel from head unit down to armrest. I hate the silver trim!

Hi Guys! I am a newbie here. I was finally able to buy a 4Runner an 02 what a beauty! Anyways I came across a great product, carbon fiber contact paper. I have just started working with it and it looks great!
