Painting the new CAT's

Hey guys, I just pulled out my old CAT's that were throwing a P0420 due to some massive leaking that was irrepairable. The new CAT's flashed rusted over the last 2 weeks, and it got met thinking that maybe they could use some protection.

So the questions is, can the CAT's be painted with flame proof paint? The can I have says up to 2000F (VHT Flame Proof). Has anyone done this before?

On other vehicles I've preped and painted headers with that paint and it all but lasts about one season before it starts flaking off. A cat probably won't get as hot as the header but close so if you have a lot of wet, snowy, salt roads, I assume your situation will be similar. It's obviously better than nothing but don't consider it to be a once and done protection type fix.
