Parking Brake Light goes on under hard accelleration

Recently I've noticed when I am hard accellerating my 2.7 the Parking Brake light becomes illuminated. This happens when I'm getting on the freeway, turing a sharp corner and nailing it or if I'm driving over anything technical offroad. My guess is that the frame/rear axel set is flexing so much that it is maybe pulling my brake. The brake is pretty loose, so I'm not sure that's the case. I no notice it more when the car is cold. I'm hoping it's now electrical. Let me know what you think!

Could it also be low brake fluid? This happened to my old car. If the fluid was low and I took a corner quickly, the brake light came on. Found out that the fluid was low since my pads had worn some. Added more fluid and it was good to go.

low on brake fluid.

usually means also u need to change your brakes. worn out brakes will put more fluid into calipers, thus less fluid in brake fluid cannister.

I haven't checked the pads, but when I had the rotors turned about 10,000 miles ago, they said the pads looked great. The feel great too.

Does it go off when/if you push the parking brake pull in? I had this problem with my 87 and it was because the parking brake pull would move slightly and the light would come on. Push it back in, it would go off.

I had the same thing on my 90 before the parking brake cable broke. Apparently as some of the steel wires in the cable broke the cable stretched a little, so it didn't press in the switch by the brake handle. Just got a new cable the other day. All I have to do now is put it in and I'll have a parking brake again.

I remember those old pull and twist e-brakes, although the 96' &up 'runners have a hand brake in the center council like a car.

I am guessing that for whatever reason that maybe when the rear axel is flexing that it is pulling the parking brake cable and that is causing the light to go on. I will put the car on jacks and do some investigating.

i just put some more DOT 3 brake fluid in, and my brake light which has been coming on under acceleration is now gone!!!!! good thread!!!

You have a blown axle seal on your rear differential. Look at the inside of your rims on the rear tires, whichever side has goo inside the rim, that is the side that has the blown seal.
After you get that repaired, do the extension on the diff breather, or at least replace your diff breather with a new one.
The rear seals are notorious for blowing out when the diff breather can not breath properly.
That's my guess.
