Passenger airbag cover

I have an airbag cover that has some of the paint rubbed off and I want to get it back to perfect again. Couple of questions..

1. is removing it as simple as disconnecting battery, dropping glovebox and unbolting airbag from beneath to access the cover and get it off?

2. Has anybody repainted successfully? (I want it match the grey dash again) any brand or color code?

Did you ever figure out the answer to the airbag question. I made the mistake of using the airbag to hold up some boards I brought home from Home Depot and it got all chewed up. I need to replace it but I'm not sure how to get it off.
