Passing and Wiring Switch Through Firewall Grommet, How To

Great write-up OP, I just picked up a set of Baja Design S2 ditch lights as well with the generic switch, so this should work great to finish the wiring on my install. I already installed the lights as well, and have been waiting on a dry wknd to run the wires through and connect to the back of my “Roo Lights” factory replacement switch.

Was wondering, [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] or anyone else, if anyone could provide some insight into the ambient lighting wire that powers/backlights them when you turn on the headlights like all the other factory switches? Where do we run that wire, I would assume into the fuse box under the dash somewhere, or would it be easier to just jump it off an existing switch for the minimal power needed?

If you jump off an existing switch wire- the color you want is green (+ dash lights).

Just an FYI.

This grommet, and the brake ECUs in the DS kick panel in particular, are prone to water ingress....

The water, even small drops, runs down into the ECU wiring/connections and can reek havoc on your ABS...causing all sorts of ABS, Check engine, trac control lights to go nuts.

Once you've run any wiring through this grommet, silicone seal the engine side!

Wire hookup

This is nice the thread came back to life. I have been in touch with bajadesigns. And Rago. I plan on running LP 6’s behind my 2020 Pro grille. Doing the same thing with wire hookup but I have to get a higher volt push button switch they gave me the web site so It can handle the volts to these lights. The push button he added will not work with LP6’s. Thanks for the good write up.
