Passing power

I was driving the backroads yesterday on my way to the archery range at the state park.

How in the world did they make an SUV this fast? Firstly I highly advise against this, as after the first time I had to do it again, just to be sure. There is a very slight pause, before your body is thrown back against seat and the vehicle accelerates like it's trying to get away from you. The first time I was like Holy Schit!!!
The second time I was like LORD. It's a gutteral deep roar.

Really between the extraordinary braking and the accleration, which are qualities aside from what led me to my purchase, I am just left with this extraordinary feeling, that in my possession is the finest overall SUV there is.

Now maybe it's not the case, but it sure does feel like it.

I mos def agree. In fact, anybody that has been in the 4Runner agrees. I like the suspense of the one second pause it like BOOM and all of a sudden your peeling away. One bad thing though is that the delay sometimes doesn't work out. I only have the V6, but its fast as hell compared to nearly all V6's. Imagine if this engine was in like a small car, like the corolla. That would be like 0-60 in like 2 seconds. lol. We also have an '04 Accord, and believe it or not this is faster than the Accord. By far. Now that Toyota is getting a market share, I can see the 4Runner in movies and TV soon to come. I can feel it!!!

Yeah exactly, don't do it. Because if you do it once, you're going to have to do it again.

Lol. Si. I know its REALLY dangerous, but i have passed 3 cars at once before. Don't ask why, it was a bad day.

I feel the need, the need for speed!

More power, more power!

Life begins at 150mph!

That is my sub-conscious speaking.:satan:

That slight delay always bothers me, so I always shift to 4th before I pass on a two lane road and it seems to respond a little better when you punch it, I do love when the other guy tries to speed up, but if you have committed they don't stand a chance as you pass.

well i guess im one of the few that doesnt feel that it has enogh...
I couldnt out pull a Audi B4 A4 1.8T Allsport the other night...i felt slow considering that they only make about 200hp.

I'm sorry but the 4Runner isn't really quick considering it's mid 15 second 1/4 mile time. The Rav4 runs high 14s and I still didn't think it was that quick but I also have driven sub 12 second street cars.

Low to mid 15s in the 1/4 is pretty quick for a truck. The 3.5 Rav is one of the quickest NA SUVs on the road. That little sucker's got some balls!

Hook a 24' Sea Ray to both and try again ;)

I don't even like the delay from 4th. I'm usually in third before I make the move. The instantaneous launch is sweet.
