Speaking of vandals

One of my good friends in college had a cj7 all lifted and isht, with a nice system in the back. Obviously, someone decided one day that the system would be best suited in his/her car so they stole it.

After he "vented" we went out and bought a new one. But this time with an added security system

The way we hooked it up, and the only way to remove it was to blindly put your hands behind the system and detach everything. The only trick to it was that we lined the back of the box, and the back of the seat with barbed wire.

Long story short, about a month or so after we installed our new security system, we had to wash the truck out. and re-carpet the box.

A real mess, but man what a good laugh.
 
I got keyed today!!!

Well, I finally pissed off the wrong person on the highway on the way to work today. I pulled off an exit ramp (long straight kind) and was somewhat close to this girls bumper (15 feet, which is normal for driving on 128). She jacked on her brakes once and I braked quick enough, then she really jacked the brakes (the front tires smoked pretty good) and again, thanks to the runner's awesome brakes I braked quick enough. I obviously flipped her the bird and got one in return. She was just talking on her cell and I was doing a little swerving behind her. I passed her and then proceeded to go down the street and pull into my office parking lot. I saw her drive by my building after me so she was definitely following me. Went to lunch and had a nice "F*** Y" on my driver's door and it's deep! She must've gotten spooked because she only got the "Y" in "You". Tried to get it buffed out after lunch but its too deep. Went to a collision center that deals with a lot of Toyotas and got quoted $1000+ for the job. They said they'd have to blend with the front fender and rear door. I called another shop and they said the same thing about the blending (after I told him it was silver). This sucks! I was hoping I could just get the whole door painted really good and not any blending. I have seen some bad blending jobs and I'm worried. I will probably report this to the police and maybe check to see if any neighboring office buildings had cameras. She probably parked a building or two over and walked over. I'm still in the process of thinking what to do: I'm probably gonna sit on the side of the exit next week one day around the same time and wait for her. I remember the car and kind of what she looks like and its not too common of a car so I think I can track her down. It's what I do next that I need to think about. I'm really trying to avoid retaliation because she knows where I work now and things could get ugly (not to mention I'm a pretty good person). Anyway, I'm very mad but now I need advice on how others fixed their deep paint scratches and how they came out. Any help on what methods, costs, anywhere in Mass.?
 
This is why I don't provoke or do anything to offend another driver when I'm near home or getting close to my destination. Definately never fight over a parking space.

I hope this never happens to anyone's 4Runner.

I hope the shop will be able to get your 4R back to new again. Sorry to see this happen your truck. Some women are vicious.
 
I have a good mobile paint repair guy. He does work similar to mobile bumper repair but also does paint. Way cheaper then a body shop. In fact he used to work for one. He blended a paint blemish (shaved metal) in my paint by wet sanding the spot, painted, clear coated and polished. After he was done you could never tell. He said he fixes many cars with key damage. You might want to try something like that. Most of the PDR and bumper repair guys know someone that can do this for you. The dealor might also have a guy/company that spot repairs their cars.

Sorry to hear about your rides getting messed up. Never f*uck with a mans car! If I caught someone doing that to my ride I'd be doing time.

I'd like to point out that "flipp"ing "the bird" is not obvious behavior to all people. I hope you assume some responsibility for escalating the situation.
 
Well, I used "obviously" a little loosely there. To me and my friends/coworkers, and anyone else aged 16-40 that drives on 128 in Mass., this is the obvious and appropriate thing to do. I hardly feel that by doing this I warranted what was done to my 4runner! I don't see how I should be any bit responsible for someone else messing with my ride because I made them uncomfortable on the highway. It was a stupid incident, and yeah I regret doing what I did, but now I need to find a way to resolve the problem without major repurcussions. I just don't know what to do if I find her, I almost want to provoke her to do something else and get her on camera, but that would take too much time/money and I would hate to see anything else happen to my baby. And like my buddy said, "it's a good thing it wasn't some guy with a gun, you coulda been dead." Anyone know someone that works at an RMV in Mass. or elsewhere that could do a vehicle search? I would be willing to make it worth their time for some help. I will be notifying the police, I've decided, but I'm almost certain they won't investigate like I would like them to, and wouldn't really be able to prove she did it anyway. But, I can tell you this, I am 99.99999999999% certain this b*tch did it.
 
I am definitely careful where I park and do not mind parking farther away or paying to park in what seems like a safer place to reduce the chances of this happening to me. Trouble is that there will never be a guarantee no matter what I do.
 
This is why i drive my Corolla everywhere...and leave my G in the garage. On long trips, my wife and i take the Highlander. My Highlander has steel rims and plain-jane interior...no one ever cares to even look at our Highlander or Corolla.:) I hardly ever wash my cars...so, there is very little incentive for anyone to key them!:D

The world is a dangerous place. Here in Houston, there are numerous stories of people who drive nice cars being followed home or getting your car jacked at the local shopping mall/strip in the middle of the day! Guns are real easy to buy these days.

Remember, you guys drive a pretty nice car that is desirable by many theives. Be careful out there. Pick your fights carefully...if at all. Know your enemies BEFORE picking a fight if possible. If you don't, then let bygones be bygones on the highway. Since you guys drive nice car(s), i assume that your life is probably worth more alive than dead...and a bright future is worth having. Keep that in mind.

live4thrillz, that girl may have called her boyfriend (the one she was talking to on the phone?). Anyway, i would just let it go and learn from this lesson. Fix your 4runner with whatever method described above and move on. Your job, your family, and your car would appreciate it.

Well I was joking anyway. Ignoring her is best because one never knows these days when the guns will come out. I also know myth busters is NOT always right.
 
Finally got her!! Update!

Well, I just wanted to let everyone know that I got that b*tch to pay me $500. Here's the story: So it happened on a Friday. I took my bro's car to work the following Monday and sat at an access road on the exit where I encountered this crazy broad and waited for her. I spotted her vehicle, grabbed her plates, and tailed her. So I knew where she worked. Did some investigating on her and found a name and some other info about her. So I wrote her a letter and put it on her windshield explaining what happened and told her I had video surveillance of her keying my car. Opened an email account and had her contact me. I thought it was a long shot. That day she emailed me and said she was "curious and quite concerned" that i had her information. She asked me to fax over an estimate of the damage and I did that the next day. She then asked me for a name and address to send the payment. I didn't want to give her this info so we emailed back and forth for a week or so. Finally I convinced her to write a check and put it on my windshield (never giving her the location, mind you). She wanted my name so she'd have proof that she paid me (I tried to get cash but she wasn't having it), so I told her it'd be on the windshield (name) when she dropped off the check (in case she only wanted my name for some "other" reasons). Next day cashier's check for my deductible $500! So worth the trouble/risk and I'm glad I didn't just let it go. It sucks that I'll still have the inconvenience of being without the truck for 2-3 days while it gets fixed and no guarantee it'll come out like new. Maybe I can get a shop to do it for cheaper than what insurance pays out and it'll make up for the inconvenience. Since she admitted guilt by paying and knowing where the keying occurred without me telling her I could probably go to the police and get more money, but then who knows what kind of crap could go down. I've since been a little calmer on the highway, but it's tough with so many stupid drivers out there!
 
1st. I'm glad you got your money. I think however what you did was probably illegal and you were lucky to get it.
 
Yeah nothing sounded illegal, especially if the method he got her information was using public means (internet searches). Plus she wouldn't have paid if she didn't do the damage, she would just have reported it to the cops as stalking or something. live4thrillz bluffed her and it paid out, she obviously paid because she knew she was guilty. I commend you for sticking it to her. I bet she doesn't pull that sh*t again.

Actually this happened to one of my buddies girlfriends. On of his ex-girlfriends keyed his current girlfriend's car. They said that they had video of her doing it (was done at a mall) and they would turn it into the cops unless she paid for the damages. She ended up paying...
 
At first I was happy she replied but I was concerned that she only wanted my name and address to either do something else or go to the police and claim stalking or worse. I kept everything anonymous up until putting my name on my windshield, which I thought was okay since I never said where or what vehicle it was. I think she was just scared I found her and didn't want to risk trying to call my bluff. I won't comment on the legality of the whole thing, however, what I did was far better than any retaliation effort or trying to get the police involved.
