Good job. I don't think there was legality issue, since you never made threats. I don't see taking it to authorities as a threat. It's just legal trouble for her, like people mentioning they'll contact their attorney.

Did you recouperate the entire repair bill or just the deductible? It's better than nothing though, if it was just the deductible. Hopefully you don't have to make a claim on your insurance. But vandalism shouldn't increase your premiums.

Well, the day it happened I got an estimate for $1056, which I thought was a bit much. They included everything like "R&I" (remove and install??) window, mirror, cladding, all sorts of stuff, and even repeated one thing. The guy at the shop said that vandalism won't cause a surcharge or anything, but I'd just have to pay my deductible. I would've liked to get the full estimate amount; as it would be better for her than criminal charges, but I just thought the deductible amount was all I could get from her. After all, I had no hard evidence she did it and wanted to get whatever I could. Looking back, maybe I could have tried for more money or just taken the check to the police as it proved she was guilty, but I'm still not sure what her mental state is. That's why I'm hoping to get a good check for the damages.

I was just saying the way things are in this day and age she could have turned things around on you especially without witnesses. I'm really happy for you that things went your way BUT! it could have turned nasty if she had called your bluff and accused you of stalking and harassing or worse.

Well good job bro. I'm in criminal justice classes and it doesn't seem like you did anything illegal. Cops aren't morons, and most are pretty chill. Even if she tried to pull some stupid s@#t on harassment, I don't think it would have ever been taken seriously once you explained everything.
