People with KM2's that drive in snow chime in

I'm getting new tires in the near future to replace my 265/75 Nitto Terra Grapplers. I'm going to go with 255/85 KM2's and I want to know how the KM2's do in the snow. Do I need to get them siped?

I met a guy the other day with 255/85 KM2's on his 3rd gen and he said they perform well without siping. The siping would enhance the KM2's performance, or any other knobby M/T in slush and icy conditions but I'm not sure it would help in deep snow.

On the highways, I've noticed more slip than my BFG AT's, but I would say its manageable as long as you're cautious. I do not have mine siped, but if it was a DD, I definitely would.

Let me know if you get them, as I'm thinking of getting the same tires and size... I live in vt, so snow and ice are certainly a concern... Also have you re geared?

Mine work better in the deeper snow but I do see a decent amount of slipping in the slushy and icy roads. They tend to do better once on the highway. You just have to be careful in those conditions and just allow more braking room and try to feather the brake pedal. Once those tires start to slide its like hockey pucks on ice. I'm also considering siping and hope that it improves the snow traction.

If you get them, you'll love them, but just be more careful compared to a nicely siped AT or snow tire.

I would. I got mine siped right away so I've got nothing to compare them too, but I'm the only person I know in SLC who drives around with KM2s on in the winter and likes them. I'm also the only person I know who has their KM2s siped.

[MENTION=67615]Dirtco[/MENTION] may be of some help. He's got them and wheels the piss out of them in all kinds of snow. He got his "super siped" though, cutting extra grooves into them.

Dirtco's are grooved, not siped. Siping looks like razor slits in the rubber. [MENTION=85218]Toyotacolin[/MENTION] just sold his new KM2s after driving in a couple snow storms with them. Said he hated them and the complete lack of lateral traction.

I have not re geared and probably won't. I have 4.30 gears already with the elocker.
