Pic request for 96-98 LED gauge conversion

So I've looked around a good bit (pain in the ass on my phone--but I'm not at home) and basically there are so many freakin threads about LED gauge lights, that it's nearly impossible to just find certain things like pictures of those with 96-98 LED swaps. The waters are just too muddy it seems with most guys seeking bulb info.

I don't need to know which bulbs, (I already have #194s from a year ago) I just don't want to bother switching over to LEDs if there are hotspots in the 96-98 cluster. I've seen 99-02 swaps that look good — but those are different gauges with different bulbs. I really haven't seen any 96-98 finished pics.

So for anyone who has swapped over a 96-98 gauge cluster with LEDs, how do they look? Any hotspots or other issues?

3 #194 LEDs. Make sure you get good ones. I replaced mine with incandecent after 4 LEDs crapped out on me.

Heres blue. I ordered these from China on eBay super cheap and had 0 issues. I did this mod several years ago. Love it still.

I like blue but my old-man eyeballs can't focus on it very well. I might see if I have a blue #74 lying around to use on the ignition light though as I won't have to really focus on it.

I have some #194 120-degree wide-angle bulbs I bought from Super Brite LEDs about a year ago. Those aren't the same ones that crapped out on you are they?

SBLEDs should be good. I'm thinking about getting some soon because the regular bulbs look so yellow
 
thanks for posting this, i was on the fence because of the hotpotting as well but these came out pretty good, done anyone have them in red, easier for night driving
 
So I pulled the old bulbs out and swapped in 4 #194 in. Three for the gauges and one for the low fuel light (I had four bulbs so I decided to change the low fuel light while I was in there).

First impression, they aren't as bright as I would have hoped. Honestly I was hoping I would be able to see the lights more in low light but not dark conditions such as on foggy days. These lights seem about the same brightness as the old incandescent bulbs, the color is nice though and they look good at night without any hotspots.

My only issue is the low fuel indicator light now stays on constantly. Not sure what that is about, but I'll go back in tomorrow and see if there is an obvious issue.

Are they dimmable?
 






My phone sucks. I will try to take better ones tomorrow again. But the green LED are nice in person. Much smoother and cleaner light. I prefer green because that's my favorite color. Notice I did blue around the key and blue in the climate control area. Once again in person its nicer. And my pioneer light up green/blue or green/red and every flows smoothly likebots factory.

It's like Christmas! Looks good despite the glare.

Did you have any issue with the ignition light bulb being too long to fit into the housing? I tried to put a blue #74 but it was way too long.
 
Yea minus the glare. It really is nice in person. And yes the miles are correct, besides me having a JDM motor. Original motor blew a head gasket at about 175k, a month after I bought. I think OP didn't maintain it or had it over heat. So far I put that many miles on the JDM.


I have the check engine light on, because of i did 5 speed swap and as of now the auto ecu is tricked. But I do have a manual ecu which I will repin my harensss to it
Nope no issues on the ignition light.
