Getting Restarted

Congratulations!

I recently reacquired a 2000 MY 4RUNNER 4WD, V6 CYL., 3.4 LITER DISPLACEMENT ENGINE, FUEL INJECTION, FIVE SPEED MANUAL.

Original exterior/interior and original engine. 296,000 miles.

Good maintenance through the years but no significant rebuilds. Tires must be replaced.

My wife and I enjoy all-season backcountry exploring. We are not off-road enthusiasts (but have done it and enjoy watching). We want a dependable beast that will get us in and out of deep ruts, gumbo mud, ice and snow, and other obstacles Wyoming will throw at us. The vehicle will not spend much time on highways or at high speed.

What do you recommend we do next?

And thank you for any thoughts, warnings, or cautionary tales.
