Pics of jdub24's 4runner
I've been working the past couple weekends putting this stuff on, and here's what I've got on so far:
3" Revtek Lift
16" American Racing Mojave Wheels (with Teflon coating)
Nitto 285 All Terrain Tires
PIAA 525 Hi-beam/Low-beam/Blue Halo Driving Lights
Westin Safari Bar
JAOS Skid Plate
Borla dual exhaust
K&N FIPK Intake
I've still got a couple more things in my garage to put on, but I couldn't wait to post these pics....
I didn't install the lift kit or the tires/wheels, but everything else was straightforward and simple to install. Just hand tools, patience, and common sense.
3" Revtek lift - I'm very happy with this lift. At first, I was worried that 3" wouldn't be that noticeable. However, when I went to pick it up, I was pleasantly surprised. You can definitely tell this 4runner has been lifted. It's not obnoxious at all, and you don't have to jump or climb in the truck to get in either. Overall handling and street manners are pretty close to stock. Sometimes, at high speeds, it feels slightly "looser", but that's to be expected any time you raise a vehicle's center of gravity. The only thing I don't like about this lift kit are: gas mileage went from 18.6mpg to 13.5 mpg.....(I knew that would happen though....)
American Racing Mojave wheels and Nitto 285s - I love these wheels. They're coated with Teflon, and I swear they're the easiest wheels to clean that I've ever seen. Stuff slides right off. The tires are fairly quiet until about 85+, then they get a little noisy...I'm very happy overall with this combo.
JAOS Skid plate, Westin Safari Bar and PIAA 525 driving lights - I chose the JAOS skid plate for it's looks and simplicity of installation. I think it gives the truck a little bit "meaner" of a look. I like front bars clean and simple looking, that's why I chose this bar, combined with the PIAA 525s, and I think it looks pretty sweet. I love the PIAA lights. They have a lo/hi beam switch and when the main bulb is off, there's a little blue bulb that stays on and gives the light a "blue halo" look to it. I haven't measured anything, but these things really increase visibility at night a LONG ways.
Borla dual exhaust and K&N FIPK Intake - This combo really woke up the engine. I haven't had my truck dyno'd, but the ol' butt-dyno swears there's a little bit better takeoff, and a little bit better passing gear now. Both products included dyno sheets showing 9 & 10 hp increases. As for sound, the 4runner sounds like a truck now! I love it. It's nowhere near obnoxious levels, it's a nice mellow grumble at idle and cruising speeds. It really sounds angry when I mash the peddle though. I have the V6, so I would imagine the V8 4runners would sound even better!
Overall, I'm pleased with my changes so far. It's nothing major yet, I'm still searching for some reliable source of forced induction....I'll keep you guys posted with other mods I do....
