Well, I went ahead and did it... Pizza Cutters

Decided to go ahead and do a quick review of the Kumho MT71s in 255...

Can someone tell me how the 255s are pizza cutters when they are about an inch narrower than the "fat" 285s?

I agree with you about the exaggeration of calling them pizza cutters. It’s just a catchy name for any tire that’s narrower than stock.

It’s about a 10% difference. I learned in a psychology class years ago that the human brain can’t really tell differences less than 3%. People can tell a 10% difference. Not a big difference, but still noticeable.

LOL I know, some other user crapped on me for calling them pizza cutters, they are absolutely noticeably narrower at least to me.


I have a duratrac 255/75r17 for winter. They are a hell of a lot light than my 285/70r17 D MT/R's and boy do you notice it when you first swap them out. The MT/rs feel more planted for sure but the duratracs drive and handle just fine, there are pretty dang good in heavy sloppy snow all the way to powdery cold fluff and well as good as a tire like this can be on icy roads.

Well, just a soon as I was resolved and really excited about this size the KO2's in C load are back ordered.

255/80/17 Cooper St Maxx installed yesterday. Dobinson IMS 2/1 lift. No rub, it's close on the front fender liners, may push them back just in case.

You didn't ask exactly but its close. 34x10.50r17 toyos. About what a 265/80 would be if it existed

Height is right around the 255/80 and maybe 1/2 wider

Guy you worry to much. Look at the specs on various 265 vs 255 depending upon rim width and varying manufacturers you may find 255s that look visually wider than comparable 265s. Your 255s look fine. Ive got several sets of 265s in MT, AT, Snow they are fine. Some like bigger, its whatever. But dont worry about what others think, lifes to short for that shit...but what you like and enjoy it

I got mine from simple tire, but I'm not seeing them there now.

They still show as an option on Toyos site though. Discount had them avail as well, but their site is down at the moment to verify. 4WP shows them

Yokohama Geolanders M/T G003 LT255/75R17 in my 2018 Premium. Pics from Trona Pinnacles and Death Valley National Park, about 5 weeks ago. Love them. About 1000 miles on them now. Slight noise at high speed but it's actually pleasant and nothing some music can't do anything about.

255/80/17 Wildpeaks. 6112 Bilstein with 700lb springs and Eibach rear springs along with their shocks. Freaking love the setup. A little rougher on the street than stock but it can live with it.
