PIE/Scion HU Questions

Two things -

First - i keep hearing people talk about how quick and easy it is to remove / replace the head unit on the 2003-2006 vehicles. I have seen the instructions by Castelucci and it looks like a bear. Is there an easier way...what am I missing?

Second - I bought my single disc (in the box with instructions, etc) '06 scion head unit on ebay this week for $46+$15 shipping and this seems to be the going rate. Most of the ones with the 'buy it now price' are stores, etc and they are all way high.

It is not a bear at all. The guys who are experienced probably crank thru the install in 20 minutes. I took longer because of inexperience with pulling panels in a 4Runner that you think are about to break and then the clips suddenly release.

Study the photos and take your time, but none of it is hard at all. Be careful to reverse each step and ensure that you are putting all of the parts back. The 4Runner is designed well and the pieces will all fit back together nicely. Avoid sharp tools so that you won't gouge or scratch the plastics.

Your $61 h/u will make the stock cassette/disk deck sound like crap. It is well worth the effort. If you are in my area of SoCal I'd be glad to help.
