Plasti Dipped the 08 SR5 wheels

Was looking for a change couldn't drop the coin on new wheels and thought I'd try out plasti dip. First round was the gun metal color went on well just was to light for me looked like primer. So round two went with black and love it! Have been on wheels little over two months still going strong. I don't spray direct high pressure on them but till wash with soap and brush. Just thought I'd post them up so if someone thinking of trying it out might really love the results.

Just too light for me even did door handles holds well. That's best part you decide you don't like it pull it off peels off like nothing was ever there.

Looks good. Thinking of doing the same thing on my 3rd gen. cheap enough too, but i dont know how long it will last. keep us updated as time goes by to see if you are needing any touch ups or anything. Looks really good though!

Yeah for price you can't lose. It's been a couple months now on mine still holding strong. Noticed a chip on driver side rear looks like a rock chip and hasn't grown since. Well keep eye on it and post some pics of up as time goes by.

For the price can't beat it! Picked the plastidip at Walmart for 4.97 I think a can lowes and Home Depot carry it too. Took 3 cans for all 4 wheels 4 to be safe. I just split a garbage bag up the center on one side tucked around rotors so didn't get over spray on them and took center caps off and did separate so if you rotate tires doesn't pull it all off. When you don't want it any more pulls off like a sunburn when I peeled off the gun metal came off in same pattern as the rim. Clean tires and when it's all dry just peel over spray off tire will come like a big doughnut.

Ok update been on all summer my buddy and I started a car wash years ago so the not using high pressure wand went out the window it's only a mile from my house so my 4runner pretty much gets sprayed off every day it's not raining. Wheels have held up strong only Knicks are ones that I've done while rotating tires and still doesn't peal with being sprayed down at the wash.

Mounted my flash light today too.

Where did you get that mount? Mine just lays down below in the pocket and annoys me when I close my door..

Sweet.. Did you screw it directly into the padding on the door?

Yes comes with self tappers I drilled small pilot holes made sure wasn't hitting any wires etc.... Good to go

Well after waking up to a flat out of town plugged the tire and headed to a local tire shop to have it patched from the inside being the tire has less than 5000 miles on it. The dude couldn't wipe his @ss without getting his fingers dirtyhwell: so when I got home peeled off old and reshot that rim. Didn't have a pic of it coming off so thought I'd post it up.

Alright here we are a little over a year in on the same plasti dip. Post above can see had to redo one rim after a popping situation haha have held up really well IMHO.
