Plasti Dippers - need advice

Sprayed my grill, liftgate handle, and badges yesterday, and I am not thrilled with the results.

1. Small pieces left between the letters that I can't get off.
2. Too heavy in some places, too thin in others.
3. When peeling the tape off and removing the excess between letters, some of the Plasti Dip peeled off the badges as well.

Any suggestions for better results? Planning to redo the liftgate handle and badges then give the wheels a shot if I can get it to look right....

I cleaned everything well, taped off around it, then sprayed it. I thought that was all I needed to do for Plasti Dip?

That is the same thing I did for my '07 doors. Still trying to clean out inside the letters. Overall I like it.

Yup just make sure the surface is really clean. Other then that make sure to do a bunch of light coats. Super light. Your first coat should look more like over spray. Keep applying coats because you want it really thick. Makes it easier to peel off all excess including small spots between letters.

I had to redo mine as well. Not for lack of prep, but because I'm an anal retentive perfectionist.
1) Spaces between the letters, use a tooth pick and just start scratching at the middles, scrape around the edge of the letter so it doesn't peel off the badge.
2) Before anything, I would even out the spray by touching up the areas that are "too light"
3) The overspray will just peel off the paint, so you don't need to have the tape tight up against the badges. in fact, I recommend at least an inch between the edge of the badge and the tape. That way, when you peel of the tape you can detach the plastidip from it before you get to the badge.
4) For best results, allow adequate drying time between coats and before removing tape.
* Additional advice: Use Goo Gone to rub off any overspray that made it outside the tape or if wind blew it onto different parts of the vehicle.
