You could always get a one way ticket here to austin and pick up this certified 2011 4x4 with 50k miles for $27k and get some quality bonding time with your new 4runner on the roadtrip home. get a new Runner and Vacation for alot less than what they are asking in your neck of the woods.

eeek, for about 6k more you could get a 2014 sr5. that's way too much for a 2011 with that many miles.

within 100 miles of that zip, I found a SR5 Rwd for 33.7k

$34k Seems REALLY High

I really want a 2010 or 2011 Limited 4x4 4Runner, preferably CPO.

I bought my 2010 Limited 4x4 in November of 2012. It had 33,000 miles on it, was sold to me as a CPO... and I got it for just over $31k. It was in great condition. There were a couple issues with paint rub inside at the base of the doors, but that was it. For $31k, we jumped at it and drove away happy. The fact that it was a CPO just sweetened the deal.

At $34k, my opinion is that this dealer is trying to pay for his next boat payment... or buy a new boat. It's one of the two.

I think my high end out the door price is $31000. Is that reasonable?

I'd say $30k would be good for a 2010 with higher mileage (70,000 miles or so).

I checked out Carmax (not my ideal shopping spot, but it gives some good ideas on prices). Obviously these aren't CPO... but I found two that jumped out at me (MUCH cheaper than the $34k your dealer is asking for):

Just some numbers to think about.

the problem I see is that texas dealer are overpriced on the used one. expand your selection outside of texas and the cost drops 2-4k less.

hell I found this 25k 2011 4x4 SR5 with 30k miles

I went through a similar thing a few months back. My advice is to spread a much wider net in your search. I found that larger markets near me, like Dallas and Houston had way better deals. It took a little travel and research time..., but I saved at least 5k in the end and got what I wanted.

Personally, I think CPO is a waste/scam. It is basically an extremely overpriced extended warranty.

I bought my used 2011 limited with 17k miles for $34,900 in Oct 2013. They are way overpriced for the mileage. I would expand your search like others have said.

You can print all of the comparative data you want. It doesn't matter. The dealer knows what he wants and if he's not budging - so be it.

As mentioned above by another member - region has a lot to do with it.

In my experience, there's not a great deal of difference between a 2014 anything and one that's 1 -2 years old. I'd just as soon buy new.

Dealers make money on used vehicles and service.
