I see your wisdom. I'll put a 2up connector in line then, solder, shrink, click, done.
I have my switch already for turning on camera mode. My question was about a dial/switch to select different cameras/sources. I think you're already answering that question in due time though. Thanks.

Spade terminals, butt splice, or maybe you can recommend something that would facilitate easy disconnection for removal.

So the disconnect is pretty much to make it easier if you choose to revert back to stock or remove for whatever reason?

The coiled up wire goes to the switch?

Just trying to wrap my head around the install process before I order.

Yeah the disconnect is purely a preference thing. You can just join the wires if you want. The coiled wire would go to the switch of your liking.

The hardest part of this install will be routing the wires to your switch and that in itself is pretty easy and completely up to you. I routed mine down and under the center console where the shift lever is and my switch is in one of the blanks where the factory heated seat switch would be.

Any questions on install i am more than happy to help with. If I am awake i will answer right away and luckily for you I don't sleep much.

Thanks! I have a blank right under my wiper switch that I will use.
 
So I've been thinking about the switches and ways to support 4 camera setup. I would really like to have no push switch at all. Instead, I'm daydreaming of joystick style cross switch. When in center position, it would disable the override, when in left/right/front/back position, it would activate left, right, front or rear camera respectively. Good industrial thumbdrive joysticks are very expensive though, also double pole non-momentary joysticks seem to be extremely rare. This other one is better but very expensive and is still too bulky for our purposes NZ Series APEM, industrial and professional switches, joysticks, switch panels, LED indicators
Maybe somebody has better suggestions?

For those of you with 2012-2013 NON JBL, you are now good to go. The 28 Position dongle has been confirmed working and you can order up. Just a few names below that i noticed were interested...

Installed mine last night accidentally. I was just trying to get it started, but it was so easy, I kept going.
Totally awesome, can't wait to figure out switched inputs.
 
I just ordered some Braided Wire Sleeving from Tony @ CABLETIESANDMORE.COM
to make the job look OEM while waiting on the switch. Very good price!
Should make a nice tidy mod when complete.

You will be surprised as to how inexpensive this is to do....
braided wire sleeve with a small piece of shrink tubing on each end makes a nice tidy sleeve.

Just ordered my dongle... I already order my camera switch from AOB ... can't wait


Would be cool if this was expandable... like if I want to wire one in the front and the sides... where I can switch between camera positions...
