I too am intrigued by the car video switch on Amazon.
From what I can tell, this device could be used instead of Brian's trigger switch that has a male and two female rca connectors. From what I can tell, the added advantage would be that you can connect two video sources in addition to your backup camera. Is that right?
Could I use Brian's camera and head harness adapters as follows:
- Yellow male rca plug on the intelligent switch (marked reverse) would go to Brian's female rca plug-to-bus connector
- Yellow female rca plug on the intelligent switch (marked head unit) would go to Brian's male rca plug-to-white and -brown wires
- The red and white rca female plugs on the intelligent switch would be for the 2nd and 3rd video sources, and the red and purple trigger wires would be wired to separate switches to give power to each camera.
Assuming I have the plug matching correct, would that work for a two video source solution and custom switches?

getting just the Aux video input dongle from me would allow you interface with this. You would also need to override dongle as you mentioned which allows you to access the feeds.
To use this you would need to get some rca cables or rca adapters. Not sure why they have inputs with male plugs and outputs with female plugs on there, that is why you need rca adapters more than likely.

This is a great thread. I would be interested in a front camera that would come on by switch or automatically when the front bumper sensors go on. I posted here cause I think that's eventually where you guys are headed. I could get a kit with a separate screen and switch but you guys are almost there. My reason is that I have a tight fit in the garage. There's less than 6 inches of space for front and rear bumper before the garage door gouges my bumper. I usually pull in till I hit something with the front bumper.

Ouch... Definitely something on my site that will allow you to view a front camera with the flick of a switch. Or if possible just hang a tennis ball on a string in your garage. Pull in until the ball hits your windshield and you know you're good.

Ok, guys and gals...
I went to RadioShock the other day and acquired some connections, fitted and soldered them to the ends of the dongle and run of wire. They came out nice.
I received my braided sleeve today in the mail (that was fast), even though I can't install it as I am waiting on AOB to come back online with some switches, I decided to test fit...well that turned into the actual install of the shrink tubing and the braided sleeve.
You can see I have the braided sleeve close to the connector and the shrink tubing over the sleeve.
Used the 1/4" braided sleeve.

USPS tracking showed dongle and AOB switch scheduled for delivery today......yippy!
Ripped the dash apart, spliced 2 wires into shifter illumination harness (green +, gray -), covered them with loom, and was all set for delivery. Well, postman delivered 1 out of 2 packages, but no dongle :wtf:

Bummer but what can you do. At least I was still able to disassemble AOB switch, change out LED for an amber LED, reassemble, and connected wires to AOB harness. So now switch is dimmable and matches rest of interior dash lighting. Won't take long to install dongle once it arrives.

What exactly would you like to see sir? Unfortunately it's all back together, but I'd be happy to take a few shot when I rip it apart to install dongle.

Switch is located in left knockout in center console where seat heater switches would be. I'm running out of factory spots :naughty:

Installed the dongle today. Piece of cake! Only advice I offer to people is firmly press the connectors together for both ends of the dongle and you will feel the connections seat very tightly. I installed quick connects in case I ever want to quickly remove. I placed the camera AOB switch in the blank space by the key/starter cylinder, as that is the highest/closest switch panel to the radio. I'll post pictures tomorrow.
