Plug and Play Rear Camera Override Dongle

Ordered mine, but have not installed yet. I ordered the front camera too. I still need the switch and can't decide between a DPDT switch (my first choice) or doing two switches that will fit in the existing blanks.

This will 100% work with the switch pro unit. You just will only use 1 of the two wires coming off the override harness instead of both. Supply one with 12v from the switch pro and you are set.

I wired up the SwitchPro to the positive (longer) cable and I left the negative with nothing attached. Result -> nothing happened.

I wired up the SwitchPro to the negative, and left the positive unattached. Result -> winner winner, chicken.... well, hold on.

The camera does come on when the switch is triggered, BUT, my 4LO and TRAC OFF also switched on when I tired the camera on. When I turned the camera off, the 4LO and TRAC OFF stayed on.

Thoughts?

Supply 12v to the SHORTER wire and that's all you need to do. The longer wire is a 12v feed so don't ground it, just cap it.

I often tow a trailer and wanted to be able to check my load.
Was easy instal, plugged right in. Followed instructions from website to remove dash pieces. I used the Air on Board switch.

Did you do the front camera with the Switch Pro as well? If so, did it require 2 or 3 switches for front and back cameras? I seem to remember reading that with a 2 camera setup you have to have 3rd switch to enable the cameras.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I believe with the SP8100 you only need the two buttons hooked up because in order to turn the front camera on you just have to have the rear override activated as well. That way if you press the rear override button first and then the front camera button, that should work.

No front camera, just the stock camera for now until I get my front bumper

I am not sure. I would guess you would wire it to activate both with 1 Switch, but I’m not sure. Sorry
