I think the point the previous poster is making is this:
You can honestly DO whatever you want. If you have the cash, you could turn it into a huge monster truck.
You need to determine what you WANT, can AFFORD, and is practical for you.
That takes research. Spend a few weeks researching. You are new to the offroad, so don't take any one's setup advice right now. Our individual set ups are going to be biased on our needs. Read about set ups, about the positives and con's of each type of component upgrade. Lok honestly at what you can afford and what you are willing to risk.
We break things on our rigs all the time. Offroading is a mechanically dangerous sport. If this is a car owned by your parents, you might want to hold off on anything substantial. If you are a starving college kid with 0 dollars, think about this: How much can you afford to spend to FIX it if it breaks? Because things will.
This is not to try to convince you otherwise. Not at all. Just look realistically at what you want and need. If you are not going to be doing any serious off roading and this is more for looks, then look at starting with a fairly low key lift. This will reduce wear on your components and still give you a more aggressive stance. When you start doing extreme lifts, you either need to start looking at some expensive component upgrades or accept that pretty quickly stock components are going to fail. Control Arms, shocks, etc. will break quickly when stretched outside of original specs. To many this is fine, it is an excuse to do more upgrades.
Anyway. Welcome. Offroading is awesome. Start slow. Read a TON. Wander around here and yotatech.com or other sites. Get a feel for what you want.
Hope that helps.
