I have a pop right now on driver side and hear it when I hit small bumps and only really noticeable at slow speeds. Took it to a local shop for a front end inspection, although I hate the type of place I took it to but am in another state and just need a verification of the noise I was hearing, and the guy inspecting my T4R had the rear wheel and caliper off!!!! Lucky I got up to see if they had my truck in yet.. I asked the counter guy why he had my rear tire off for a "FRONT END INSPECTION"... he stated, "I don't know". Then said, "well, we generally do a whole vehicle inspection and oh by the way your rear brakes are pretty worn and will need replaced". Yeah, thanks dude, I put them on and they are fine. I do A LOT if not most of the maintenance on my truck so I walked out into the shop. Guy doing the work was just a pawn.. I ended up doing the front end inspection myself and found a slight noise "pop" when I would apply force to the sway bar. Turns out I have a sway bar link on driver side going bad.. not a real big deal but I had just taken a 1600 mile trip and my truck has 133K PLUS on it and was fearing the worse. Sorry for the freak-out but :barf: C'MON MAN! I hate places that just try to #uck you for some money!
So try to have front end inspection by someone you trust or jack the sucker up use some jack stands and DIY. Hopefully it is nothing serious.
With the steering lock and front end in the air, grab the tire on either side and try to move the tire in a push/pull motion.. if there is any slack or noise you might have a tie rod going.. grab the tire on the top and bottom and do the same, push/pull and if there is any noise or slack you might have a wheel bearing going. These are simple checks that any shop will do initially to narrow things down. I worked for a summer in a tire shop and did that on every vehicle that came through.. they try to "up-sale" on everything. Anything to make a buck.
Also check your lug nuts. Seems simple but can cause unwarranted noises if loose.
