popping/creaking noise on seats?

has anyone had problems on a popping/creaking noise on the middle part of your seats? if so, is there any way to fix this??? it is annoying the heck out of me.

Creak in the seat

Mine developed the "creak" after 3 weeks. I think its in the lumbar area. All I know is that it is getting worse not better. It actually feels like something broke loose in the seat back. When I filled out my Toyota Quality questionaire that is one of the areas I targetted as an issue. Not sure how they could fix it (if there is a fix) without tearing the seat apart. Now...is that something I trust the dealer to do correctly?????

i've heard the same "light" pop noise from my lumbar support on occassion and only when my ipod is not on, so i don't mind as much. but if it starts to compromise the integrity of its support function i'll let my dealer know.

I have the popping too. It's very minor, but I only weight 150lbs. I'm guessing a heavier person would cause it to occur more often/louder.

My Tacoma had this too, but it seemed to come and go, never consistent.

It doesn't really bother me, but it would benice to know if there is a fix.

try adjusting the lumbar just a notch less from where you have it - seems to rectify the problem.

I have noticed it within the last couple weeks too. Usually I don't even have the lumbar support engaged at all, so I don't think that is what caused the problem.

Hope there is a fix for it soon. Probably the least of Toyota's concerns right now.

I can feel a clicking coming from the lumbar area of the seat. Adjusting the tension of the lumbar supports helps, but it starts back again after a few hours. I don't know if I want to mess with the dealer taking my seat apart/out of the vehicle. I may just put up with it.

It's the lumbar support. Put it all the way down and you won't notice it, or above about halfway. Anywhere below halfway (where it's most comfortable) it makes an awful popping noise as it moves back and forth with your weight shifting around.

Getting Worse

Okay.. what was once a slightly annoying oddity is now a full fledged pain in the ass (back). I have 8K on my 4Runner and the squeaking seat back is getting worse and worse. It is now audible to other passengers in the car... squeaks on every bump and turn... How could they ever miss this one???

For the record, I have cloth manual seats and am 6'2" 190lbs.

Sucks.

hey norcal its been an issue with mine since day one, i'm about 6' 190 and its always creaking, driving me nuts. Anyone ask the dealer about this yet??

I have a Limited with leather and no sqeaking/noise at all with 6000+ miles. Never had it in my last Runner with 80k miles.

Just like AL4Run, I have the same problem on my Limited. That creaking is really starting to bug me.

I haven't had any problems with my Limited w/ 6K miles. I did have a minor dash rattle, but I stuck my hand behind the dash and must have hit something back into place. Haven't heard it since.

Mine started the other week, SR5 w/ the leather with 4k. The 1st thing that went through my mind was this thread, so not happy. I scanned this and a couple more but did not see anyone taking it to a dealer and having a fix, unless I missed something. Obviously it is the lumbar, I can adjust it so it does not 'pop'/'creek' but it is not comfortable. Anyone know of a fix???
