i hate sand! it gets in everything and everywhere, and just eats stuff up, especially if you have broken or cracked seals or boots ect. i took my tuck to long beach last summer, and am still finding sand in it. but thats just me...

New to PDX

Hello PDX. I recently moved from Richmond Virginia with my wife and chocolate lab. I don't do to much off road driving but I do a bit of camping, mountain biking, hunting, fishing that take me of the paved roads.

This is off topic but I didn't know how else to reach Portland 4runner owners. I am getting ready to change my timing belt and need to find or make the tool used to hold the crankshaft pulley. I can fab it up but if someone has one it would save me alot of hassle. Does anyone have this tool? If so PM me and we can work out a beer for tools rental.

welcome, yeah this is an ok spot to post that need, its basically for wheeling, and working. you might want to check with a local auto parts store, i know some offer tool rental/loan, ive never used this program so i dont know how it works or if and how much it costs... if you ever need help turning a wrench or pulling something apart/putting it back together let us know, im sure someone will be more than willing to help out!

labs are the best dogs ever! i have an english lab myself. you should try and come out with us this sunday for a wheeling day, there will be something for every ones skill level and truck level. -and yeah in oregon you need an off road permit to wheel here just an fyi

hey everyone. It brings me great sadness to announce i wont be able to make it on sunday. My aunt just passed away and im leaving for cali on thursday. not sure when ill be back as ill be there as long as needed or wanted for my family.

I really wasnt close to her so condolences arent really needed, i just want to be there for my cousins and family, this will be rough on them.

Not all bad, i grew up down there so i will likely get to see old friends and ill be staying with my brother (also 4runner owner/appreciator).

You guys have a fun safe time up there. fwiw im REALLY bummed i wont be able to make it and also to meet those of you who did not make our scouting trip.

Truth be told i was on the fence anyways since finding a leaking ball joint boot the other day (180k on original lbj's :wow2: )

I look forward to pics or vids and count me in for the next trip. It sounds like there will be many more as we find what a strong and populous group of 4runners we have here in the NW. How lucky are we about that right?

as for the 15th. there might be a slight chance in the stars I will make it.
but dont hold me to it cause my test date has changed 5 times so far.

but once I take my test and pass, I am free to head west. if I get dont friday and feel like driving all day Sat. then I will be there Sunday.

just depends on timing at my end.

if I dont make it, Cheers to those that do have of course have fun for Crierra and my self and any others that can't make it.

well this will be the first formal get-together we have had, we did and impromptu scout trip two weeks ago. so from the list it looks like about half of what we thought would make it, which in all actuality is probably about right. you should come out and bring your tacoma... this isnt just limited to 4runners, i will be letting a friend take one of my old 85s out...

Hey now, I understand I started the 15th date as I was supposed to be in town. and the fact I am 800 miles away dont help.

but I am going to school to become a pilot and the fact my FAA test has changed 5 times is no my fault.
I have no control over the guys schedule and really since I should already have had my license a few months ago cause the spring term was supposed to be "instrument flying" and not finishing up my private. gotta get this done cause now I am playing catch up. sucks, but that is way it worked out for me.

so that might of sounded like a rant. it wasn't I was no insulted there Kid. just telling you my end of the backing out. heck if it works out and I get my test done and pass on Friday, I might still be able to make it.
