Possible to delete moonroof?

Is it possible to special order, say a Trail Premium, but not get the moonroof option? I'm tall and would prefer the extra headroom.

The dealer would be best to ask that question. However, based on what the website says, I would say no its not but the website is very vague. The Trail Premium appears to come with Moonroof as standard equipment.

Talk to your local dealer and see if its possible to special order them. And if they won't do it, try another dealer. Often times dealers won't bother trying to special order anything, they will sell you on the stock they have on the lot. Instant money=more profit for them.

What I would do is go to Toyota's website and punch in your zip to "build your 4runner". If you can't customize it the way you want there, you most likely cannot special order it in that configuration at your local dealer. I suppose you can play around with other regions to see if it's available else where?

I have been able to order Lexus models from factory that were not available at any dealer across the country in that config. A competent sales guy who knows how to special order will be the only definitive way to find out.

So it may be possible, I just have to find a salesman willing to do a little extra work. I've got another thread asking for recommendations for a good salesman in S Texas so hopefully I can find the right guy/girl that way and get the vehicle the way I want it.

just get a non premium and add puddle lamps and Katzkin covers? Better than softex anyway

Heated seats and auto on/off headlights are the other features that come with the Premium trim. They aren't "must have" but I'd like to have them, if possible. I don't really care about the Softex, the fabric is fine with me. I'll look into the Katzkin covers though.

I thought heated seats were an option on their own? My Premium (2011 maybe a change for 2014) doesn't have heated seats. As far as auto on/off headlights.... mine is leave them on and they turn off automatically lol

Heated seats are pretty easy to add aftermarket.

I'm not sure what parts are different on the auto headlights. You might just need the sensor that goes in the windshield.

I have serious doubts you'll be able to get a Premium without a moonroof. Manufacturing just isn't set up like that these days.

I think Katzkin might actually have the option of heated seats along with the leather covers too...as a matter of fact there's also a DIY how to here for heat seats install alone, if you're fine with the fabric :)

Like I said, just test it out on the Toyota website using the build configuration link at your respective zip code, and if it will give you a good idea about the possibility of being able to order it.

If special order is not possible, just go with what Stifler suggested, since it's not as if you're really going to keep her stock for long, lol. This forum has a way of making you mod the truck whether you like it or not :tape:

My Trail Premium DOES NOT have auto-on headlights (thankfully).

Interesting. I'll have to check the Toyota website again and see if it is different for SR5 and Trail. I didn't become interested in the Trail until reading more about the KDDS from your review and others on the net.

I talked with a salesman who checked on this and he told me that it is NOT possible to delete the sunroof from the Premium package, so that's that.

Here is what the Toyota website shows when comparing the two Trail trims:

Projector-beam headlights with smoked trim and auto on/off feature
Standard for Premium and Not available for Non-Premium

Toyota 4Runner Interior, Exterior & Safety Features

So how did yours come without it?

I think it means they go off after a time on exiting the vehicle. Unless they changed it for 2014 then no 5th gen 4Runner has light sensitive on/off headlights.

Good question. My owners manual shows both options, one without the "auto" option and one with it.

Here is my headlight switch on my 2014 Trail Premium with no "auto" option like my previous Limited had:

Ahhh, well that lessens the option a little bit. Thanks for the clarification

I made a mistake. Some Limited's have it so for 2014 they probably could offer it on the TE Premium! I probably just need to quit responding to anything remotely electrical.

For the sake of reference, here is my stalk with the auto headlight feature.

EDIT: I drive a 2010 Limited
