Possibly picking up 13' 4Runner Friday...

Well my wife and I have been in the market for a 4Runner for about the last month. We have gone to three Toyota dealers looking at base 4x4 SR5 models, and have had three different but bad experiences. The first dealer had a great price, but low balled us hard on trade. The second dealer had some lightly used models listed, and after being told what a cream puff the runner was we came to find out on a disclosure form that had been stapled behind the vehicles car fax that it had a front in collision with $2k plus in damage. The third made us wait an hour in the dealership only to have a rude sales manager rudely explain that he would low ball us hard on trade, and not even give us the price that the first dealership had quoted us. I was fed up and ready to just wait awhile... my awesome wife however had been in contact with another local dealer. Today she calls to say that the salesman is willing to give us what we want for trade, and that he has a 2013 Magnetic Grey coming in this Friday, 4x4 SR5, and that they will do $31,775 for it. I think my wife is doing a deposit this afternoon to let them know we are serious.

Excited that we are ending up with hopefully a better deal on a 2013 than we were going to get on a 2012. I have seen the only changes are the knob selector for 4x4 and the auxillary input being moved to the center console. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the 2013 has a key more similar to the new Camry than the 2012 4Runner, but not a big deal. Will post pictures if everything works out!

Yeah she is definitely a gift. My patience was really at it's end, but she knows how much I want one and has taken on the burden of figuring everything out.

That is interesting being as my 2012 hasn't even gotten here from Japan yet.
Toyota is building and shipping and arriving 2013's when 2012's are still enroute? That is odd.

More than odd IMO. Can't imagine from a manufacturing standpoint that this is so.

That does sound like an odd situation... however the dealers site lists the vehicle as a 2013 and I can only go by what the salesman has said in terms of arrival date.

Edit: I believe some others have commented on here that they have 2013's on order that are a week or two out.

Rubicon - think I'd be talking to the dealer. I have to wonder if he's not looking for your truck in someone else's inventory. Something's amiss.

New 13

If this is a 4X4 it definitely does not have the premium package, I take it. The premium package adds about $2800 to the sticker. Mine listed for $38, 629, and I had to pay $34,000 OTD. I live in a sales tax free state. I traded in a 2007 Toyota prerunner, with access cab in SR5 design with TRD off road package. It was a little over 5 years old and they gave me $5,000 less than I paid for it five years ago. It was in outstanding condition with low miles, and great tire tread remaining. It was an end of the month sale, which they were glad to sell. Seems like they would not sell a 13 fresh off the boat for that price, when there are still 12's out there. You usually do not get a good price when it is a new year model that has not been setting on the lot for a while.

Pretty sure production of 2013 4Rs and FJs started in mid August. 2013 Highlander Hybrid started August 20th, 2013 Highlander (gas) and Sequoia on August 27, 2013 Tundra on August 31.
So, it's plausible. And also plausible 2012 still en route.

It's a 2013 Magnetic Grey SR5 4x4, with locking lugs, cross bars, exhaust tip, and 5 peice carpeted floor mats. I would have thought the same thing, however they have no other base models and they were the ones who told us the price.

Hey dude, where are you located?

When you go on Toyotas website to "Build your Toyota" and select 4Runner it is 2012.
All kind of confusing.
In discussing 4Runners with 3 dealers in N/E Pa they all said "2013's are aways off"

Does anyone have a Link to a Dealership with 2013 inventory OR a copy of an Invoice to a 2013 that is inbound?
If a Dealer is offering a"Deal" they usually are willing to provide a copy of the Invoice, otherwise (IMO) the "Deal" is questionable.

Also if they know the port arrival date, they also have the VIN on the same manifest, and you can use that to find the model year of the vehicle.

As for mine, I have the VIN, the arrival date and the year - it's a 2012.

My question was does anyone have a link to a dealer saying they have
2013's OR does anyone have a copy of a window sticker or invoice showing an "inbound" 2013? One is purportedly hitting the pavement in 2 days.
You can't even Google 2013 4Runner and get a Pic or a dealer hit.
??
I ABSOLUTELY hope and pray for the Op (and moreso for his supportive Wife) that Magic has struck BUT if you read the Op Three(3) dealers show their true colors seemingly and suddenly a Fourth(4) appears and ALL is better. Better deal, Newer year Model at a better price(?) and most suspect - THREE dealers said one thing on the trade "No" but #4 along with all the other factors Better - So is the trade value?????
I've run into dealers like this and I HOPE this isn't one of them, they are the worst. Usually a long drive away "Come on Down" Then upon arrival, Ooops! Oh you said, I thought you meant.....

I sat in and drove my 2013 TE today. If it didnt arrive so late this afternoon it would be in my driveway tonight. I posted pics of it on a new thread. Other than it being a 13 there are zero changes including the same 4x4 shift lever and ipod connection in the glove box... may be different on SR5 though

The price isn't better, it's about $1,000 more than the 2012 we were looking at but it's better in that for a minimal difference we are getting a 13' and the couple changes that come with it.
