Anyone towing with the XREAS system? I have a 2006 V8 Sport. Just sold our 2016 Coachmen Clipper 17FQ and only delivered it a few miles behind the Sport so I have no real towing experience with it.. I had a 2016 F-250 with the 6.7L diesel when we bought the camper so I did not buy any kind of Weight Distribution or AntiSway hitch as the F-250 never even knew the trailer was there. No matter the wind or hills or anything.. We sold the 17FQ in hopes of upgrading to a new Aspen Trail 25BH or 2710BH but would like to know about towing with the XREAS system. I purchased new suspension off a 2017 Tacoma Sport so I have the front and rear shocks I could put on if the XREAS is not good with towing.. Also will have to invest in a weight distribution hitch with Anit-Sway I'm sure...

Here's my travel trailer we got back in Oct 2017. We haven't had a cross country excursion yet but we plan on it next year. So far it's only seen the Smokey Mtns, but we're going to big south fork and the blue ridge parkway this summer. Helen GA will be in Oct. So far we have loved this camper. It weighs around 1100lbs dry and 1300lbs loaded down, roughly, and pulls like a dream. No clue how it will do with the new lift but will find out in April.

That's about the size i'm looking to buy.. How did it pull? Have a V6 or V8?

Little teardrop I built in may of 2016. She's been all over the west from Yosemite, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and Montana since then. I built it on a heavy duty chassis so I can drag it through some pretty rough places - even though it looks pretty soft. And it has the matching track width and uses the same wheels as the 4runner.
The biggest missing part is a shower. I'd love to have real shower inside. That's probably the feature that at some point would convince me to upgrade to a factory built camper.

I feel you on the shower part. We have a kelty privacy shelter that we've used. The biggest problem is heating up the water and not feeding when taking a shower. As I get older we'll probably move to a slightly bigger unit so we can have some indoor plumbing.

I've been thinking about getting one of those little propane hot showers. But I only have a 16 gallon water tank, so I'd probably need to put a bigger one in. 16 gallons works great for 2 people for a few days. But it wouldn't go very far for showers.
In sailing we usually call it the "two foot itch" - as in "if my boat were only two feet longer I would be happy." It's very hard to resist. My original intent was more of a trailer to store all my camping gear - and for that it works beautifully. Makes going camping so much easier to just hitch up, fill the water, and we're outta here. I have a solar panel system that keeps the battery charged and the fridge cold all summer, so it's easy to go on a whim. I worry that a bigger camper leads to more work and less use. As with boats, I've found that among my family, the larger the camper the less it gets used.
That said - I still might go for a 16-17ish footer with interior shower if the right deal comes up.

I have the V6. It pulls it fine, long hills are not so fun but it gets it done. I tow in 4th gear and will sometimes manually shift down to 3rd on hills. I haven't yet but am going to install an aux cooler for the transmission. Sorry, for the late reply.
I simply can't imagine pulling a 6000lb 30ft travel trailer with a 4Runner. Even a V8 version!
Maybe if you live in flatlands, and don't have to chug up and down mountains like we do in California. Or visit Colorado mountains...
I've towed a 16footer with a 350ci V8 in a Suburban, and that was bad enough. Although that was a '77 suburban which probably had less HP and torque than a V6 4R, the longer wheelbase heavier tow vehicle helps a lot with handling.

I am now researching the best way to charge the LiFe battery from the T4R. I have a DC power Alternator I will be installing in the next week. Thinking of using a Blue Sea solenoid and Bussman Breaker to and Anderson Connector at the rear, Isolating the Battery with a Victron Orion Smart.
